Colorado Residents

I have been planning on moving to Colorado for several years but was holding back so me and my 4 year old daughter could spend time with my dad.
He passed away on the 10th of this month, so Colorado here I come.
I drove to Colorado Spring from Dfw last night.
I'm plan on spending a few days here and find out where I want to move to.
I will be going back to Texas for the final service & to pick up my daughter I have sole custody.
I also have 5k saved up & will have another 5k in feb. I want a cheap place but nice. I haven't decided to rent a place to myself or rent a room from CL.
I also wanna simple grow set up, I'm pretty good at growing shrooms but never tried growing bud.
Any locals hit me up with any advice you got!

Make sure whatever county you move to allows you to grow, also you will need permission to do so from the landlord if you are renting.
Many counties do now allow outdoor grows, so you would have to buy equipment to do indoor as long as the landlord approves of it and you are in your plant count, but you will have to alter the house by putting out ventilation, purchase lights etc., because if you do it without telling the landlord, or have bitch ass neighbors, they can call code enforcement and they can enter your property and either give you a ticket or rip your plants out or both.
This happened to a friend of mine that is in CO Springs area.
Look into counties with lax growing regulations if that is what you are trying to do, but many of those counties are in the mountains and away from cities, depending on how you like to live.
Cheap rent is mostly non existent everywhere in CO. But you can find alright deals if you are not in the front range.

Closer to downtown the better. With a income like yours, and hopefully you will continue to get around 5K a month, should be no problem. And you know the basics of credit checks and past history.
Welcome to Denver. Liberty over Tyranny (Texas).
Enjoy Mall Street. See Golden, short trip from Denver and if you get the time head to Boulder.
Public transit is great yet the airport sucks but only a hour and 8 bucks I believe I paid to get to downtown and it's a United hub which saves money on tickets and limits transfers.
Hope you enjoy this state. Lived there on and of for over 10 years yet am in Utah now.

Look around lakewood and off hampden for a decent apt for a decent price considering it is CO/denver (the marks, the parc at cherry creek). I pay 1460 a mo for a 2 br 1100 sq ft, 24 hour fitness, year round hot tub(outside though). There are nicer places for a hundred bucks or so more a month, but this one is decent. Rent houses are outrageous, but buying a house is not too bad if you look enough. I'm buying a house next year if I don't die, lol! I have been coming to CO for the last 20 years on and off. I have always liked it here. It is affordable if you look in the right places.

I wanna live in the mountains, grow weed, and go weeks without having Human contact. But that's sorta unrealistic.
How much do you think a half acre with a shack in on would cost let's say 1.5 hrs from denver/springs?

A lot of really cheap good real estate in Greeley. Don't bother with Denver, the housing market down there is a joke.

This is exactly what my life is. It is not unrealistic at all. There are just very few places left where you can do that.
You have to find counties with areas that do not have HOA/POA/Covenants.
Counties are trying to make it harder for people to live off the land. But it is still possible.
I'm living it.

I lived in Greeley for 4 years. Enjoyed my time there. I moved to Fort Collins after that and fell in love with that town even more so. Northern Colorado as a whole is worth checking out.

I give up too much info even saying what state i'm in on here.
CO is populated enough. My homies and I have a good thing going and the more our areas get populated just like the rest of CO, then more regulations come that negatively effect our lifestyle.
If you are trying to do what I do, go on landwatch.com and check out mining claims or search for areas without covenants, POA's or HOA's. You will get an idea of where those areas are in the state.

Not sure, but I bet FR does. I haven't bought weed in a year, grew a plant last year and still have some. My brother is growing this year so I won't buy weed for a long time!

The western slope is also worth considering, especially if you're looking to minimize human contact and live in the hills like you're saying. I'd look into Montro or Durango if I were you. The west slope has always been my endgame.

For sure, but the city also has like a 3% unemployment rate and decent job opportunities. Not much crime either. Worth it.
When I was living there though, they didn't allow recreational pot shops in town, you'd have to drive to unincorporated areas right outside the city to buy from the shops. I never really bought from shops myself though.
Greeley was the same. You had to go to Garden City to get anything. I believe they didn't allow commercial growing either. I was growing there with no problem myself, not sure if there are punishments for growing a lot or not though.
Only mentioning these things because you mentioned growing in the OP. Something to keep an eye out for at least, but don't let it dissuade you from moving to a nice spot either.

You want to live in the mountains but you're talking about paying rent?
C'mon man, just storm up those slopes, with your axe, chop down a few of those leaf poles and make a cabin with spit and mud!!
Jk, I'm sure it's actually a delicate and somewhat complicated situation and I wish you the best of luck. I have no idea where the best places are to rent in CO.

A guy I work with was/is selling 2.6 acres outside of Colorado Springs for $8,000. Sounds ridiculous to me but I saw pictures of the area. It's fairly secluded but you're allowed to build on it as well. I considered buying it myself actually just because of the way property is skyrocketing all around here.

In my area, 4 years ago, houses that were $120,000 are now going for $260,000 +. If you got bread, get in now. You will thank yourself in 5 years.
My homie and I are about to buy a house on 30 acres and buy multiple other properties elsewhere in the area to contract out to growers, because a big issue for growers (especially out of state) is finding a place where they can grow outdoors, so we will contract space out on properties for growers who want to get a season in of growing, but accepting a $25k+ deposit just to be allowed on the property, but they will be able to make $100k+ in one season, because we will have a greenhouse and yurts or other small housing on the property for them to stay in, so it's worth it all around. and within the next couple years we will own everything outright and will be able to cash out on at least $500k+ a piece just off one or two properties between me and my homie if we decide to sell.
If not, we will have homies run the operations on different properties and just collect a % and be able to make $100k-250k + a year passively.

That's funny, most of my landscaping clients are in NRH. I'm actually trying to move to that area because this drive from Dallas right now is killer.

I camped last wed in the mountains and did a little bit of mushrooms. When I lay down I could have sworn a huge animal was right by my tent, there are bear signs there. Could have been any number of animals, but it was big for sure due to the sound of the feet. I just calmed down and was still. Bring bear mace at least. A gun if you like. I had neither.

Me and another shroomerite were hiking back to our car during sunset. We heard a strange noise that sounded like a large person imitating a crow cawing, or something to that extent. I looked in the direction of the noise and spotted a black mass moving between some trees across the river bed we were coming up to. It was about half a football field away. The black mass didn't really make sense to me till I saw it turn slightly and it's eyes glistened in the light. I then realized it was some bipedal form that had been side strafing. It turned away and ducked behind some bushes. About three seconds after it disappeared, it reappeared a little below the bushes where it had hidden behind. This time only my friend could see it as it ran along the river bank. It only took a second before it came into view for me. As it came into my view, it turned sharply away from the river bank and chopped it up the hillside going opposite from our direction. It covered the hill and disappeared over the top at an incredible speed. It went up the hill so fast and smooth that it didn't make sense. It almost seemed like it was defying physics.
At first we wanted to think it was some tall person totally covered in black who was out for a run in the woods. We thought to ourselves that they were just running up a trail that follows that hill, but when we crossed the river and came to that point we saw that the trail went in a totally different direction. The hill it ran up was really steep and covered in thick underbrush. It covered a distance in a couple seconds that would have easily taken the most skilled athlete a good 15 seconds to get up, if not more; and that's not taking into account the thick underbrush and vegetation.
Before someone suggests it; it definitely wasn't a bear. We both got a perfect view of it running up the hill, moving both arms back and forth like any human sprinting would do.
Honestly, I don't expect people to believe me when I tell the story, but I feel obligated to share it. I don't understand how such large mammals could go undetected by our society for so long, and I'm not going to pretend like I have some idea how it could be possible.
I will say that the way it moved did not make sense. It legitimately seemed to defy physics with how gracefully it was able to move up such a steep and densely covered hillside. I wouldn't be surprised if it's incredible ability to run and hide had a big role to play in our lack of discovery; but that doesn't explain why we haven't found any remains. I don't know. This shit has kept me awake running circles in my head many nights now.

Just go to a rec shop to grab weed. You don't have to be a CO resident. Just a valid ID.

I'm leaving Springs now headed to the Denver area to check out some more rentals.

Funny you mention that, I just picked up a new client in Keller who's about to start paying me wayyyy more than my other clients. The property is HYUGE, and he said if they like the work I do then I'll have lots of business with his neighbors. I'm pretty pumped, I could start making a really good salary after years of scraping by.

It's official I'm a resident now. Just signed a lease, I got a miracle deal!
Pretty much it's a 4 story house. They are renting me first two stories (basement with two rooms) and a huge room on the 1st floor with private bathroom, all this is mine and my daughter's rooms.
They live in the 3rd & 4th floor. It's in a really nice established neighborhood village about 5-10 South of springs with amazing landscaping.
Oh ya, rent is $400/mo including all utilities & WiFi
Feeling great today!

So I mentioned going camping... Really it was like the second time I've gone in my life and I think I'm hooked. Check out this sick spot we found. Pretty deep in the forest, about 8,000 feet elevation. Notice the natural rock fireplace! This picture does not do the view we had justice. Stars so bright you could see the Milky Way clear as day... So sick.

I honestly believe at this point, how can you have so many religions and only 1 be right?
I was raised Baptist - Christian but I still half ass have my own beliefs from the 3 month long acid trip while growing shrooms back in the teen years.
They are morman.
Anyways, I'm finally settled in Colorado Springs for now. The more I explore into the forest the more i think about moving west/north from here.
I plan on spreading my dad's ashes in two places here. I have decided on 1st place but still looking for a 2nd. I spent 12 hours driving around the forest & mountains yesterday looking for a place. Once my daughter wakes up I plan on heading back to a forest today. I think I might spend the next week exoloring different places.
I love it here.
