Tyran is a cool dude. I've rolled with him a few times. He got to meet some of my old crazy friends that went off the deep end on the hard drugs.
I need to visit Colorado more often. I'd move there, but there's things keeping me tied to DFW for a while.

You're not far from me. I'm going out to cotopaxi on labor day weekend to paint a new cabin up in the mountains around there, dropping then as well.

Sounds like we need to do a Colorado gathering.
I tried getting one in Dfw a long time ago but it never panned out.

I'm familiar with it. It has changed quite a bit! I saw it in the 70-80-90's.

That's funny, most of my landscaping clients are in NRH. I'm actually trying to move to that area because this drive from Dallas right now is killer.

I camped last wed in the mountains and did a little bit of mushrooms. When I lay down I could have sworn a huge animal was right by my tent, there are bear signs there. Could have been any number of animals, but it was big for sure due to the sound of the feet. I just calmed down and was still. Bring bear mace at least. A gun if you like. I had neither.

Maybe it was a Sasquatch? I ran into one at Beaver Bend a couple months ago.

Oh yeah, how did that excursion turn out? That is a beautiful area, but so fucked at the same time. I need a big city! Tell me the story! Did you see it, smell it, or what?

Me and another shroomerite were hiking back to our car during sunset. We heard a strange noise that sounded like a large person imitating a crow cawing, or something to that extent. I looked in the direction of the noise and spotted a black mass moving between some trees across the river bed we were coming up to. It was about half a football field away. The black mass didn't really make sense to me till I saw it turn slightly and it's eyes glistened in the light. I then realized it was some bipedal form that had been side strafing. It turned away and ducked behind some bushes. About three seconds after it disappeared, it reappeared a little below the bushes where it had hidden behind. This time only my friend could see it as it ran along the river bank. It only took a second before it came into view for me. As it came into my view, it turned sharply away from the river bank and chopped it up the hillside going opposite from our direction. It covered the hill and disappeared over the top at an incredible speed. It went up the hill so fast and smooth that it didn't make sense. It almost seemed like it was defying physics.
At first we wanted to think it was some tall person totally covered in black who was out for a run in the woods. We thought to ourselves that they were just running up a trail that follows that hill, but when we crossed the river and came to that point we saw that the trail went in a totally different direction. The hill it ran up was really steep and covered in thick underbrush. It covered a distance in a couple seconds that would have easily taken the most skilled athlete a good 15 seconds to get up, if not more; and that's not taking into account the thick underbrush and vegetation.
Before someone suggests it; it definitely wasn't a bear. We both got a perfect view of it running up the hill, moving both arms back and forth like any human sprinting would do.
Honestly, I don't expect people to believe me when I tell the story, but I feel obligated to share it. I don't understand how such large mammals could go undetected by our society for so long, and I'm not going to pretend like I have some idea how it could be possible.
I will say that the way it moved did not make sense. It legitimately seemed to defy physics with how gracefully it was able to move up such a steep and densely covered hillside. I wouldn't be surprised if it's incredible ability to run and hide had a big role to play in our lack of discovery; but that doesn't explain why we haven't found any remains. I don't know. This shit has kept me awake running circles in my head many nights now.
