1st Grow: so far so good?

Just wanted to give an update from an earlier post. In my original post about a week ago I asked whether I should dunk my pinning jars. After keeping them in the jars for another 3 days, I took them out this past Sunday, although some jars still had not fully colonized.
I dunked for 24 hours, and tenderly rolled them verm, trying not to destroy the pins. Some fell off, some stayed. Not a lot of verm on the cakes but I felt it was decent enough. The cakes have now been in the FC for a little over 3 days.
The pics below show some new growth, especially in two of the cakes, while the other two are off to a slow start. There also seems to be a white fluff coming out of the cakes - although upon reading about this - it may just be the myc reaching out and doing its thing. I'm posting just to be sure everything is ok. Here are some pics.

I am trying to mist (when I'm home) every 1-2 hours. I've also recently elevated the FC a bit to improve air flow. I'm also trying to find a better place for it in general, as it is currently in the corner of the room on my dresser - 6 inches from the wall. I hope to have it in a more central location by tonight after I take the wife out to dinner
Thanks again for all the advice.

Unless it's super dry where you live you prob don't need to mist every couple hours. Unless the cakes are no longer glistening don't mist. You can mess up by over misting. Cakes get waterlogged and can go bacterial causing contamination faster. There is a fine line on misting and it's different in ever ones different environment.

Ok, I'll tone down the misting to 1-2 times per day. Its fairly humid here so dryness shouldn't be an issue. Thx for the tip.

A friend of mine swears by setting cakes on jar lids. Saves on foil and they fit just dandy. Also, if you ever run more cakes, dunk them 24h and roll in verm. Let sit 24h. Mist gently from above. The following morning just keep it gentle and let the organism attach to the verm (e.g., for the first 36 hours mostly leave them alone and then spray from above so they don't get forceful misting). You will then have an equalized casing layer over all parts of the cake. But definitely do be careful with foil. It can leave standing water in a SGFC and that's never a good thing.

I like the jar lids idea. Great call. Should I make that change now or for next batch?

Now if you can.
If you blow it on the roll, you can add a little bit of wet verm out of the bag and leave it atop the cake. This will help them fruit off the top and also typically throw out 1-1.5 flushes around a quarter ounce dry each. Like seriously not a lot maybe 3 teaspoons.
Edit Didn't see the one fruiting. Leave that one be she's doing just fine. Everything else looks dry and you can fix that with the wet verm. No one really "top cases cakes" anymore but I've seen it work very incredibly well and then had success myself.

Brief update. I ended up topping two cakes with some wet verm. Now only one of the cakes appears to be on a time delay. I also decided not to replace the foil with the lids only because I was worried that if I touched the cake, I may disturb the whole process. Instead, I've cut down on the misting to avoid a puddle at the bottom of the cakes. Next grow tho, I'll switch to lids.

All in all I think things are going well. Any more tips on trying to maximize my flush please feel free to send them my way. Not sure how much I'll get outta this but going in I was hoping for 20 grams. Thanks again for all the comments!

Just finished my first grow! Thx again for everyone who chimed in. After a few peeps pointed out that it was mold, not myc fluffing on one of my cakes, I grabbed whatever mushrooms that were good and ready, and got about 40 g altogether.
Loved the experience and would definitely do it again. Would like to try different teks down the road too. I think I know what to improve upon now too so I look forward to producing more next time around.
The final question I have for this grow is, are these mushrooms good? I think the blue is just bruising, and the white stuff just myc - but because its my first grow I'm nervous and just hope the mushrooms I did get are good to go.
*If so I'll dry them ASAP. They have been in a brown bag in the fridge for the past 3 days by the way - tonight is the first time I have a chance to dry them. Thx again for your replies.

Get yourself a cheap dehydrator that goes to at least 160F and dry your mushrooms down in 4 to 6 hours. That's the best way unless you plan on eating them fresh. The faster you dry them, the less they degrade.

Ya I got a dehydrator. I just wanted to make sure the shrooms were not contaminated prior to drying...but judging by your answer, I'm gonna say they good to go!

My apologies, I scanned your post too quickly. Yes, they're fine. You identified the bruising correctly and the white fluff is just myc.
