Spread them out as much as possible infront of a fan blowing directly on them. They will rot before they dry in there. Food dehydrator at max heat works like a charm. Before I got mine I would place my shrooms on a bed of flower drying crystals and blow a fan on em for a couple days. Then I would store them on a bed of flower drying crystals in a tupperware.
Only way to get true cracker dry would be with food dehydrator or possibly in the oven but dont quote me on that one

personally I would dump the desiccant out of the container into a big bowl put a collander/strainer or even a piece of screen ontop and spread the shrooms out so they are not touching or atleast overlapping one another or the desiccant, throw some saran wrap or stretch wrap over it if your in a damp enviroment or if not leave uncovered with a fan circulating the air around it.. works for me every time

Desiccate is for keeping already dry things dry. You won't be able to dry fresh fruits with it. Either fan dry for a few days then desiccate or get a dehydrator.

lay them out on a piece of screen and set up a fan to gently blow on them. Desiccant is only used to dry things that contain very little water like flowers or herbs. Shrooms are %90 or more water. Desiccant simply cant absorb that much water effectively. We use desiccant to keep dry things dry. Not to make them dry. There are plans floating around for simple DIY dehydrators. They will be dry in under 12 hours using a dehydrator with no loss of potency. Good Luck

They are previously air/fan dried? Just not cracker dry? I also would happily buy a food dehydrator but I have yet to stumble across a UK store that even sells one. Online shopping for one is not an option for me unfortunately.
A lot of stores in the USA have items that they don't stock in stores but will ship to the store or your home upon request(an example would be Walmart not stocking food dehydrators in my region, but i can order one and pick it up at the store of my choice). If you can't find something like that then simply ask the manager at your local hardware or hunting store. BTW here in my region that is the only place I have found dehydrators in stock, at the hunting store, some people call it an "outdoor store". But anyplace that sells rifles and camouflage hats will be happy to order you a dehydrator if they don't already have one in stock, if they ask and your not comfortable with the truth, just tell them you want to make jerkey.

My food dehydrator is no more noisy than a fan. It sits on my bedside table and gently hums me to sleep.
If youre using a fan you wanna dry for a couple days at least before you think about drying crystals.
Yes seran wrap, stretch wrap, cling wrap, cling film. Same shit

Being a TC I do trust your advice however I live in an enviroment that has awful winter humidity (ceiling fans sag/wet inner glass)and I use a similar product to what he has displayed as I stated and have no issues getting 2-3 hundred wet grams dry in a few days(1 day in summer) this way dumping the water a few times, they get cracker dry, I use to use my oven on fan cycle for a day then set them on the screen but the electric here is not like the states its 40% higher before the 24% GOV tax on it F-CKIN COSTLY, everything has a minimum 23% sales tax, except car fuel at 65% tax, yes every $1.00 you spend .65 cents is the tax, you get .35 cents in fuel the 7th highest fuel costs in the WORLD, sadddd, so I went with straight desiccant in a bowl, maybe thats not the chemical but it looks like epsom salts and grabs all the liquid quick when covered in winter or near a fan in summer, I tried the oven fan and chemical but it took the same time...

Taking 3 days to get dry is hurting potency.

Get a cheap Nesco dehydrator off Amazon, set it to 160F and have cracker dry in 4 to 6 hours, not days, or even a day. Save the desiccant for keeping them dry in an airtight container later.

Seriously tho, op needs to break down and buy a dehydrator. I agree that it can be hard to part with that cash, but in the end it is one of those things that is really worth the money you spent on it.

30$ less than it costs to buy a bag of mushrooms if you had to go get some since you didn't make your own

30 dollars for the ability to dry enough mushrooms to kill a gorilla twice... Hmm is it worth it?
