I have taken theology classes on the bible for 8 years and if there was anything I learned about Jesus it is that he would have detested the free market and libertarianism and its basis in greed and selfishness as virtues.
Matthew 11:12-13 Then Jesus went into the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves. 13And He declared to them, “It is written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer.’f But you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’
Sounds like jesus is imposing regulations on the free market enterprise.

Absolutely, Jesus was the biggest socialist hippie of his time. It's amazing how many Christians don't actually have Jesus' values.

I don't care what phony credentials you think you have..you will just simply never win this argument. Communism = State-sanctioned theft, the revoking of private property, the promotion of poverty, and inevitably 100% of the time results in mass murder and genocide. It removes personal liberty and sovereignty (God-given rights) and replaces it with government control and enslavement. It's always corrupt and it's always immoral. It is the anti-freedom. Jesus preaches charity and sharing, not envy, jealousy, covetousness, or theft. God is love and freedom, not slavery and bondage.

The beauty or ugliness of religion, depending on how you look at it, is that you can warp whatever the holy books say into whatever twisted reality you desire.
On one hand you have people like MLK and Gandhi who have cited Jesus in supporting the concept of social justice, civil rights, and social welfare programs and then you have people like you who use it to cite support for some "anarcho-capitalism."

It's the Devil's game. You see how he is able to trick you right out in the open like that? Lucifer appears as an Angel of Light, not a hoofed beast with horns. He entices you with temptations and promises, and then delivers you pain and death. It's a bait and switch. He is a liar and a deceiver.
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 14:12

it's all belief systems that fracture off, into rationalism, secularism, and theology, some more extreme, and some so much that it bars the secular, or even, the rational.

Look, all you need is simple logic to figure this one out. Is theft immoral? Yes or no? How does Communism get enforced?
Case closed.

The devil is pretty badass brah, he's the only character in the bible who thinks for himself and questions authority. Definitely the most interesting character.

Nice bait thread. I figured pris and koods would be duking it out already by now but no such luck. Kinda fizzled out, don't ya think? I mean, unless you want to try to push it with the whole "PeyoteZen called me dumb" thing.

Precisely, so he was in fact, anti-capitalist in ideology. Worshipping and acquiring worthless materials such as iPhones and Porsches, wanting a better house because your neighbor built a better house, hoarding all your wealth while billions of people are suffering and poor... these are not the followings of Jesus.

Sure. Only a deadbeat bum would think paying for a service is theft.

He wouldn't give me his weed so I just went ahead and took it. And now that I have it all, I think I'll just keep most of it and give y'all a bit of bag shake and stem. Thanks for playing. Communism 4 Life.

Naw, you still don't get it. You went off the tracks to scrounge up that half-baked conclusion.

Zen face it. it's a lovely story. but it's interpretation does not span to this fucking century. you make it secular in your own mind. good for you, but...face it, Jesus, the man, would have been trembling at the sight of what has been excoriated onto the earth's face.

You can pay for services in a free market capitalist system. No Communism required.

Sure, Jesus would have some objections about our world today, but it wouldn't be because there isn't enough Communism (or Government, for that matter).
