Qman, I think you may be right.
I am Dutch myself, we should chat sometime about how weirdly the EU countries handled the refugee crisis.. it's quite shocking to me, to be honest.

He was very good at capturing the public's sense of entitlement...offering the things that they desire....shame he didn't mention exterminating 17 million people to get there.

He also used words like "great" and "beautiful" a lot....kinda reminds me of someone in our presidential race.....someone orange in color.

Noone even mentions the reconqista. Kick the oors out. Fuck them.

race is not arbitrary, culture is real, some groups are better then others.

It always annoys me that they greatly overestimate the umber of jews killed and the number of native Americans killed.
There werent ever ten million Natives in America durring that time
Six million Jews? Thats insane. Were there even that many in all of Europe?

It was prety bad, we have the pictures of starving peopple and piles of bodies, but still seems like propaganda

I think its sad to see a country so beaten down that the government was able to become such a thing as it did.

The end of WWI truly desecrated Germany.

Go to the Politician Discussion forum, there's several huge threads discussing those issues.

It made me realize that if I listened to a lot of what Hitler said I would more understand why people followed him.

What do you guys think about the idea that what America is witnessing right now is the  rise of their own hitler in Trump?

Not saying he is evil or whatever but the idea that America is now a downtrodden, disheartened country that is now electing a classic demagogue for the same kind of reasons, and the long term results could be far beyond what the people voting for him could imagine...

I am not anti-trump per se, but I see a validity in the claim that America is going through its own "elect a demagogue" moment with Trump ...

Politicians the world over have been compared to hitler since WW2. It's an easy comparison to make because hitler says all the standard political lines that all politicians say.

I hate trump, but he's no hitler. Nor was Obama, nor was Bush (both of whom I quite vividly remember frequently being compared to hitler). That stuff about making a country great again after a period where the country was shit is repeated by virtually every politician. Very standard stuff politically.

In fact, people have a tendency to believe that their current state is fallen and that the past was great, and that they need to return to it (regardless of the reality). You see this in most mythology (eg Norse mythology) in which the mythological and heroic ages are both over and the present time is depicted as a fallen/corrupted state. You even see this in christianity with the fall from eden, leaving egypt for the desert, the promised land, etc. Something about human psychology probably makes the past seem great and the present seem shit even if the past was actually shit and the present is actually pretty great.

Trump is not Hitler or I should say he isn't YET.

Nothing about who Trump currently is or has been is relatable to Hitler at all.

Even without subtitles you can get sucked in his speeches. You don't even haveto understand what he says. It's as if his tone, pauses and articulations are what the human brain needs to stay interested. kinda like a good song with a perfect beat to it.

That's what I was saying about the use of the words great and beautiful....Trump adores those words, although mostly because his vocabulary doesn't exceed them.
Putin also fits into this mold...basically, people who insist on having things done their way and if you cross them...you disappear. It would not be a far stretch to say that, given power, Trump would try to impose himself to garner more power.
And, our economy is nowhere near what Germany's was like shortly after WW 1. We still have things pretty damn good here, all things considered. People like Trump and Hitler are very good at making you think you have less than you actually do. I mean, think about it....How many other countries have such a high percentage of people owning automobiles...and many times multiple cars? We have decent health care where no one can be turned away in an emergency...and, even the poorest of us are pretty much over weight.
It is this sense of entitlement that is played on by all politicians...trying to make you think that they can give you more. We're basically a bunch of spoiled brats in the eyes of most other countries.

When I see this, I imagine what he'd say if he was told what would be going on in Germany in the years and decades following 2016. And what he'd say when he realized that what he did had the opposite effect of what he tried to accomplish - in the long run.
And then I ask myself what would have happened if you sent him back to 1930, where he would edit "mein Kampf" to exchange every mention of the word "jew" with "muslim".
Sure as hell Jews would have been the most evil nazis of them all.
