Yeah, would have probably bled out and died had the impact been a couple of feet further what with being on blood thinners and all.

With everything I've been through this year I'm suprisingly unfazed. The emt's seemed shocked at my indifference.

i had to go down there with valid id and birth certificate. they didnt think anybody could live through an accident like that.
i basically rolled a 93 jeep wrangler 7 times down a cliff only to be stopped by a side of a boulder that got jammed inbetween the roll cage on the drivers side window and the windshield. before another 5-7 foot sheer drop

wow. good to see you're still alive. If something like that happened to me, i don't know where my birth cert is. I'd probably go to the insurance company and make a video if they asked me that, as the agents know me in person because I pay cash every 6 months.

I just got a recall notice for the car. Apparently when the airbag depolys sometimes it shoots metal shards out and kills people. Happy it didn't deploy. hah

I'm 110% sure. That's totaled FOR SURE.
Insurance companies will generally total any vehicle if the damages cost more than a few thousand to fix.. which a few thousand could just be a couple body panels. Doesn't have to have a bent frame or core support damage or anything.
My friend was just side swiped and his vehicle is being totaled.

OP: Glad you are ok man. That's kind of insane the airbag didn't even deploy.. I was also recently in the first car crash of my life after like 18 years of driving.
I straight went unconscious from exhaustion after working like 65 hours that week and barely getting any sleep or food. Woke up slamming into a tree.

Thanks. Damn man I'm glad the front of mine just got clipped. Head on collison seems far scarier. Did you come to before you crashed or just some time after?
I'm thinking the airbag on mine didn't depoly since the impact was on the side and didn't push the body back to hit activate the sensor.
The insurance is preparing for it to be a total.
My wife got in an accident a few years back in an old Aztek we had. The damages on it ended up being close to 4 grand and the insurance fixed it. The total value of the car was at most 3 grand I was baffled. That ford has way more damage though thats for sure.

I came to right as I was crashing, during the impact. Or shortly after.. hard to tell...
I came out relatively unscathed for how serious of an impact it was. Hit the tree doing about 45mph by estimates. My front roof rack went flying off and my dashcam recorded everything up until about 10 seconds before the impact.. impact corrupted the video so I couldn't see it.. it was pretty severe.
Had three compression fractures in my lower vertebrae (probably from the seatbelt) and a bump on the forehead from the airbag. After the first MRI they thought the spinal injury was more severe than it was and were talking about surgery and shit... After the second more extensive MRI they realized the first one was a false positive and it was relatively minor (for a spinal injury..)
I was in bed for 2 days and on the 3rd day they had me walking around, walked out of the hospital that night and went to work the next day heh. Had to wear a brace for a couple weeks but aside from that and some painkillers, they just told me to take it easy and it will heal naturally.
All in all I got lucky as fuck. Neurologist was telling me most people she sees come in with similar spinal injuries can't even walk or go to the bathroom normally for months... if not longer or permanently. I credit a lot of that to the German engineering. Car did its job by absorbing most of the impact. If I was driving a lesser car I'd probably still be in the hospital or dead.

i wouldnt say it was a 110% just by the looks of it.. i worked for a dealer/body shop, saw some crazy shit they didnt total that i thought was totaled for sure. for example i saw bent/cracked frames being repaired that werent a write off.
