Cyan, makers of the Myst series, have a new game coming out called "Obduction". It's a "spiritual successor" to Myst, and is basically the same type of puzzle game, with better graphics. They're gonna use those pre-rendered animations made from filmed actors like in the earlier Myst games. It looks like it will be pretty good.
Edit- newest trailer:

OMG I was literally trying to think of the title Myst the past few days I've been explaining it to a friend and couldn't remember the name, Hardest game ever back when I was a kid though. Thank you was going crazy felt like no one remembered it haha. I will check this out funny though looks promising Finally remember what its called most people dont know about this game it seems It has a very lonely wet creepy glow to it that most games cant match.

Riven is the one I got real into. The graphics were outstanding for 1997, even if the gameplay was a simple point & click puzzle game. I had all kinds of notes and drawings I took. Finding the little D'Ni kids game in the village schoolhouse (where you pulled the switch and it spun a marble around to a certain D'ni number, and then dropped one of two little figurines down into the mouth of that whark fish monster thing) was like hitting gold cause then you could just count the clicks and decode all their numbers and write that shit down and solve other stuff you previously took notes on based on their numerical system.

I've never had a chance to play the myst series. This game looks breath-taking though, whats the premise behind it, the plot?

Riven was fucking awesome, and this one part always scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. It's when you're walking back through a forest area and this little girl SOMETIMES appears in front of you and runs off. Every time I walked through that area I was shit scared she would appear.

Nobody knows yet. You get abducted at the beginning of the game, and then you go along and unwrap the mystery as you go. It's an exploration/puzzle/mystery game like the previous games they're known for.
Jufin- Haha, yeah the girl that runs away when she sees you? For a completely nonviolent game Riven sure was pretty creepy and tense at times. They really mastered atmosphere and nailed the ambient music and shit.

It's out now. I gotta get a new PC built so I can play this shit. It looks pretty good from the latest trailer. I want to play this shit so hard and get mad at the crazy puzzles and have to troubleshoot machines in the game world and all that.
New trailer, also added to the OP now:
