I freaking love stones! Second truffle grow :)

Ive been posting my progress in my journal on my most recent truffle grow, but I figured if I want feedback I should post it on the forums where more people will see it. So far progress is great, and I'm hopeful for a great harvest. I'm heading to Tennessee at the end of October, so I'm hoping to have some truffles ready by that time
ATL7 & MEX. JALISCO LETS GOOOOOOHere is my glovebox I dont use silicone or any inoculation ports on my jars, just open them inside this baby and quickly do what I need to do and screw the lid back on. Works great. 8/14 Today I start my first attempt at agar! I followed this tek and successfully made 4 "agar plates" (4 elite ball mason jars) that I plan on opening up inside my glovebox and placing a drop of ATL spores from a syringe on all of them. I don't currently have a camera on me, so I can't take a picture of them yet. I'm hoping if I don't run into any contams or issues Ill be able to noc up about 8 quart mason jars. ----- 8/19 I've done a lot since last update so here goes. On 8/14 I noced up 5 rye berry jars with almost the last of my atl spores. as of today they all have a bit of fuzz going on. I noced up only one of the sides of each jar to conserve spores. then i made 4 more agar plates and used the rest of my spores to try my hand at more isolation. each plate showed growth but one of them that showed the most because i accidentally put a squirt instead of a drop of spores, but it seemed contaminated to me so i took it out of the closet and put it downstairs to take to my compost. Luckily for me i didnt do it and now its growing stones!!! I made more agar plates and transferred some mycelium from the previous plates to the new ones to get a good iso.Ill post the tek ive been using, its really great because its so simple and hard to fuck up. Ive had a 100% success ratio so far out of 3 batches made so its got my recommendation for sure! If anyone can tell me if the stone agar plate is contaminated that would be cool. the middle of some of the myc sectors there are long strands of white almost string like material. is that myc or a contam?? I also used some of the spores to make a liquid culture (oops forgot to mention) So far there are some white specs inside it so im hoping thats myc. I'm always so unsure if its working or not until it's just obvious that it is or isn't. Anyone else have that problem? PICS!! Stone Agar Jar The babies Hope these guys turn out all right How to make agar jars! EASY AS PHUCK! https://www.shroomery.org/9427/Grocery-Store-Agar-TekIm too lazy to take pics off all the stuff so you will have to wait until next update to see if anything crazy cool happens ----- 8/24 Its been 10 days since I noc'd up my atl jars and 8 days since I noced up the mexicana jalisco jar and all but one show any growth at all. The atl only have one side noced up while the jalisco has all 4, but the jalisco is growing in spots while the atl is just a line where the spores were shot. My liquid culture is doing GREAT. I think the added gypsum did it well. I'm still working on isolating the atl I germinated on agar, and the agar jar that had all those stones forming in it contaminated and the stones weren't substantial enough to save so I tossed it. (sorry for the not-so-great picture quality. I don't have my camera and all I've got atm is a little POS camera so they will have to do for now) ATL#7 Mex. Jalisco

Thank you! One of my jars is growing very VERY slowly. I'm thinking it might be because the mycelium is growing inside the rye where I can't see it. What would your input on that be?

I'd say that's totally possible. that's why we shoot spores down the side close to the glass, so it can work its way inward and we get to see when it germinates and starts expanding.

9/7 Im surprised to say the least. Out of all the jars, the jalisco has been the fastest growing, and has already started producing stones! I shook this jar maybe 5 days ago. I havent been keeping track, thats just from what I recall. Its doing really well and I hope the others have the same success.
The atl are also doing great. I had one jar that I think I didnt noc up when I did the jars I ended up making a spore syringe out of my atl LC and the jar ended up taking over the grains faster than the others, even with the late start. Thats the power of LC I shook the other 4 ATL jars about 4 days ago. They came back strong and healthy.
Now they are all on the same level except the jalisco. Ill give them a couple months and they will be ripe for harvesting. Ive got to try and fruit some of these puppies to keep the spores going so Ive gotta do some research and find out what I can do for fruit bodies.

Thanks man! It definitely does the job, but I wish the gloves were a bit longer so I have more room to move inside.

They sound pretty complicated / intimidating at first, but with the pic it seems much more feasible. And you can get creative too it looks like, without spending too much coin.

My best guess at the ooz is liquid metabolites as the mycelium eats the grain. You notice it more so if you leave a jar untouched for along time it will pool up in the bottom and then eventually turn yellow.

Wow, those jars are beautiful! I have been thinking of trying some stones lately, seems a lot more simple than any other grow out there, literally nocc em and forget em.
Enjoy those bad boys!

Stones are the tits man. My first go around I got 100gs per qt off multispore with atl#7. Most people were tripping with 10 grams wet. So nice. This time I'm gonna prob make a tea and save it. I only got a couple doses for myself.

Ive got a pool of liquid at the bottom of all my jars, so I guess that explains that. Thanks for the infoQuote:

much appreciated Truffles are almost TOO simple, you've got to try them outQuote:

Last time I grew some truffles I only got about 33g so I split it with a friend and got roughly 16 grams fresh. Had a great time, but I had to mix them with a drink. This time I want to try and powder them up into capsules. Maybe try that, it could work
