Should've just used the search engine first for this sorry guys

But while anyone is here has anyone just steamed their lc and been successful?

I have tried steam sterilizing 2 LC's in the past and neither of them were successful. In one of them I injected spore solution, in the other I inserted a sliver from the inside of a freshly picked mushroom. Neither grew. after about 2-3 weeks with no growth whatsoever, I tossed them. I am currently making a second attempt at liquid cultures as we speak now that I have a PC - which I strongly recommend getting one if you don't already have one.

Hopefully this info helps you in some way/shape/form.
GL with your future endeavors.
Peace

You LCs failed because you did them the wrong way, I wouldn't blame the steam sterilization. I would blame the improper inoculations

And yes theoretically you could steam sterilize a LC but why would you even bother adding the LC step. Slow things down to speed things up but also add a huge contamination risk. Yeah...

What about taking a tiny bit of healthy, colonized, non contaminated rice cake for LC?

Would strongly suggest not doing that.
Cakes are only steam sterilized, they have a very barrier, they're also inoculated with spores. So it's like doing spores to LC but an extra step to attain failure.
