Truffle Bulk Grow

I was reading some of the posts by Roger Rabbit who spoke of making a bulk truffle grow with the use of a large filter patch bag to grow big stones. This was back in 2010.
He also spoke of getting good stones by isolating a sclerotia strain on agar:
RogerRabbit said: I don't like 1/2 gallon jars-they just seem to under-perform for some reason. However, you can get about 1 1/2 gallons of rye berries into a large filter patch bag and grow some real monster stones. If you use the large bags, prepare the rye on the dry side. Drier than I show in the DVD for quart jars.
My guess is with filter patch bags you can only inoculate them with a syringe? Does that mean that you can't inoculate then with the isolated agar strain?
Sorry, still a noob here. I want to get his book, but it is not available as yet

You dont have to use a syringe too inoculate the bags. But We have a vendor called Out-grow. You can get pre-sterilized bags of rye berries that have a self healing injection port
I belive strain isolation is laying your spores on agar and picking the proper section of mycelium and putting it on another agar plate, and then repeat the process until you have the specific mycelium strain isolated. Then use that isolated agar wedge to inoculate a master jar of substrate or maybe you could use it too make a Liquid Culture?

Of course - You mean suck that mycelium up into a syringe and poke it in the bag. Okay that could work, although stones are not going to pass through the needle! Hmm pre-done grains are no good, as I am outside of US, but I can get bags shipped over. I have read around a bit, but I still don't know if I can put bags in the PC and how I can seal them after I put pre-soaked grains in them? I am sure Roger did it?

Yes I believe thats how LC is done. I haven't done it myself or read much So I'm not the most reliable source on this matter.
In RR's videos he just wire tied the bags shut However you can get an impulse sealer? The following link is from one of our sponsors but these are used to melt/seal the bag after your sub is loaded into the bags. And yes you can PC the bags with the sub in them.

Also here is the link to purchase RR's videos. http://www.mushroomvideos.com/
I bought and downloaded the digital copies onto my computer for like 7 bucks? The videos cover everything form BRF cakes too agar and cloning ect. except stones lol. But still 7 bucks is impossible to beat and well worth it man.

Thanks for the feedback Juggermaut I have all of RR's videos - They were both a great investment and a small price. Would love to buy his book - but I know he is a bit worried about pirates, so I hope something works out?
Do you know who does the best bags? or ones that would hold a good 4 quarts? Ones that are PC safe at least? Not all plastics are the same.
I am based in Australia

Think I found some But if you know who currently offers the best deal of bags, because a single bag here costs over ten bucks

I dunno anything about brands or who has the best but I know amazon carries them if the shipping is too much from a vendor. I'm fairly certain the bags with filter patch are pressure cook able. Otherwise they would be fairly useless to us in this field.

This. But any bag of grains you order will already be hydrated and PC'd. So there ready for inoculation as soon as you get them. I got one from outgrow a shroomery vendor but I notticed it has a few bursted rye berries. Im pretty sure thats not good. But im trying it anyway

Oh yeah I think the trick is not to seal the bags until after you have PC them? You just fold the excess and put a couple of rubber bands around the grains Otherwise pressure builds up and you spill the beans. Yep I think I will just tie them after PC with a metal tie

You can inoculate spawn bags with an aggressive oyster culture on agar. You CANNOT inoculate a bag with a stone strain or most other mushrooms. They are not aggressive enough. You need to start in a quart jar and g2g that into the bag. Or, you can us an LC. Either preseal the bags and inject through the bag and then cover the needle hole with scotch tape, or inject in the opening then seal.
