blue oyster culture getting darker?

Hello folks, this is my first time using liquid culture and I'm having some concerns. I made two 1qt jars of solution. Following steps found here I mixed 1tbsp of dextrose with 1tbsp of light malt extract and 1 cup of water. I then pressure cooked them for 15 mins at 15psi. I let them cool overnight. Both were the color of watered down lemonade (blonde) with a little bit of sediment in the bottom. I inoculated one jar with 2cc's of king oyster LC and one with 2cc's of blue oyster LC.
After 5 days the blue oyster culture looks much further along, but the color of the liquid has progressively appeared darker... like its carmelizing. The king oyster culture doesn't seem to be colonizing as fast and there is very little difference in the color from 5 days ago... it's still blonde.
Not sure if this is normal since this is my first time experimenting with LC, but maybe some of the much more knowledgeable people here can shed some light for me. Thanks!

Pics would definitely help- but "caramelization" may just be metabolites - which is sometimes (incorrectly) called "mycpiss". A colonizing/consolidating block/jar will often create metabolites for a variety of reasons- and I've noticed some species more than others.
But this is all conjecture without pics.

I have limited knowledge on this subject but I think it looks ok. I would wait for a couple other opinions but I think it looks fine.

Right on, thanks. I was pretty sure that it was fine because it's colonizing so fast, but I have read that the LC is supposed to get lighter as the mycelium feeds and that was the main source of my concern.

All the LC I have made got lighter and end up almost as clear as water when they finish.
I'm no LC expert but if it's caused by metabolites I would of thought it's a bad sign if it gets darker instead of lighter.

The color has stayed the same the last couple days, but I have noticed small white patches of mycelium on the sides of the jar. I have been "twirling" them once a day to mix up the solution as I've read that breaking up the mycelium encourages growth. Am I doing this too much and is that the cause of the mycelium on the sides of the jar?

Darker is fine. Most the time it gets darker as it grow because of sugars being broken down by light. Lc is a ticky bicth when i make them i do it by the case. Best thing is to keep testing it. One clean master lc jar is priceless. Is that a nail in thejars

Yeah its 2 nails per jar. The info I read here on The Shroomery says to add an agitator like a screw, broken glass or marble. Closest thing I had was nails.
