For short-term work I would consider working on an oil rig. You get sent to some place like Alaska making buku money. Something like $50,000 every 3 months or something?
They don't care if you have a criminal record or a high school diploma. They do hair follicle drug testing every now and then though, which traces back to anything you used in the past 3 months or more.
With that said, as long as your record IS expunged (which it sounds like it will be), that would make you eligible to work in any private sector that doesn't require state or federal licensing or background investigation. Computer science would be good. Sales and marketing would be good. Architecture is good. Being a hair stylist is good. Being a journalist is good. Working corporate jobs is good. You can still do a lot of things.
Thanks, man. Felon friendly options and degrees were what I was looking for. One more question; say I am getting interviewed in the private sector, after getting an expungement...if they ask if I am a felon can I say no at that point? I realize that technically I still would be, but being that they would not be after able to see the record, it shouldn't be an issue, right? I know many employers that will write you off immediately, regardless of the situation if you admit to it.
You would say "no".
That's the point of getting it expunged...
Don't get all honest Abe about this it's a job application.
If they somehow found out, tell them it's expunged and you didn't want someone to be discriminatory about it. TBH, it isn't their business in the first place. They won't get it unless from social media or whatever.
Micro is right. As long as it's a private employer, you don't have to disclose it if it's expunged.
You only have to disclose it if you are applying through a state or government agency (such as with getting some licenses like the BoN nursing license), then they will tell you you must include expunged cases, because they will find out about it even if it's expunged.

There are so many trades that will pay you more than $25/hr after a year or two.
More co-workers of mine than not are multiple felons, have spent time in jail, don't have their highschool diploma, have to pay child support, or don't have drivers licences and make more than $30/hr.
Is it possible to get into any of those trades without being on the payroll, just getting cash?
