Ps. Cyan

I received a ps. Cyan print as a gift from a friend and I've got a few questions.
Question A: Since these are only grown outdoors is there any reason why I shouldn't go straight to grain then spawn to outdoors, or should i clean it up on agar first? (Of course I'm putting it on agar so that I've got a plate or 10 as back-up)
If you have a tek to direct me to do not even read question B just send me the link please.
Question B: I plan on colonizing grain and spawning it into patches outside. What is the standard substrate to use? (Mulch? Straw?)

3 part hardwood chips 1 part earth. If you us grain spawn, bury it deep so the critters don't steal it. Although that helps with distribution. In the PNW. I move to outdoor beds after last threat of frost/freze.

Thank you so much. Is any soil suitable for this?

It's not a threat of frost n freeze...just something we take advantage of....it's my can survive freezing no problem we just colonize during the winter so we are prepped for spring

It doesn't matter what i think of you...all that matters is clean spawn I'm tired do me a favor

You seem like you've done this a few times. Do you have a specific tek you follow for cultivation on ps. Cyan? If not, could I use any kind of mulch?

Would ceder work in that case? I think I already have some from when I did my flower bed last year. Should my sub be 100% wood chips or am I supposed to add some other stuff and dress it up?

Yes don't use any cedar or pine. You can use douglas fir once it has fermented for a few months. I have heard it's best to use several different hardwoods in each bed if possible. My last cyan patched I made used aged douglas fir, sugar maple, alder, oak, and blackberry stems. They seem really happy

Lol now I'm kicking myself in the ass for not buying the giant bags of "mushroom compost" they were selling at the grocery store a couple months ago. They sure would come in handy right now. Looks like I have a lot of work to do if I want to get these guys going.

Why not grow a pacth outdoors and grow a small pacth inside to help spread it when spring comes.

I don't know how to make a patch. I mean I got the grain part down I just don't know what to do from there. Do I just throw some wood in a hole with the grain or is there a neat and less cavemanlike way to do it?

grain is the hardest part, no need to prep the wood chips really other than them being wet and the substrate thick enough. Check out my Cyan thread to see what I did. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23008066/page/2/fpart/all/vc/1

Excellent work. I've seen your thread before. How do you hydrate the wood chips before you mix it with the spawn?

Haha. Thanks you two. So do I soak them or just get them wet?
