Broke the camera on my phone or I'd post pics, I'm on the 5th transfer of TOC....so far it's been tomentose with no rhizomorphic growth.....this is the first time I've ran into this situation....should I just continue to transfer it out? Is there such a thing as a tomentose monoculture? I know it's probably a dumb question but it will never get answered if I don't ask it.......Thanks in advance guys

Same way you do with rhizomorphic mycelium. It's pretty distinct. Remember you won't usually even see sectoring until you make quite a few transfers.

I don't mess with isolates, but it can be easier to see with less nutritious agar.

Thanks Pasty! I was just wondering, I've read it takes a bunch......I'll keep transfering them out until my myc starts sectoring.....then I'll transfer them some more

Those are isolates from clones. Blind isolates from spores usually perform even worse. So clones are a lot . more worthwhile

Yeah but aren't they less vigorous bodh. It would be better to get an isolate from an MS swipe for the long haul right? The culture is a lot older by the time it gets from myc to fruit, to agar, to an isolate.
I'm just wondering, it seems like if you really want to go to the work of an isolate, which actually seems somewhat overkill for cubes, you might as well go from an ms swipe and do it right. And then when you find a really good one, slant that bitch.
