possible to grow king boletes?

i would like to know if anyone has any information on growing the king bolete? i used to collect it and i made the best soups you could believe. :flyagaric::jah:

Not likely...boletes are mycorrhizal. We're going up hunting this week. Here they only grow around 10,000+ feet above sea level.

Might be possible with boletes and potted pine/spruce.

hello myco and thanks for your input. you know i have about a thousand small pine trees growing on our 8 acre property here in sw georgia. i will look at that link you sent me and io appreciate it. i can probably buy some online for the starting material? i am definitely interested in trying to grow those and the a. muscaria as well that also grows with the roots of certain trees. please stay in touch :flyagaric::jah:

I thought I heard that they were unable to reproduce these mushrooms again but I can't find any links now.

That article is from 1997 and I would've expected some more news about them since then.

Can always give it a go though.

Mycorrhizal species are damned difficult to cultivate- but not impossible.  Here is a GREAT thread on Morel Cultivation- another mycorrhizal species- so you might learn a thing or two from it.
