Battling Black Rot

Two weeks ago, I noticed my Bridgesii cutting was getting a little soft so I uprooted it to take a look. Upon examining the base I noticed black spots. Since then, it has only gotten slightly bigger. The cutting is actually rooting so damn well that I'm trying my hardest not to have to cut it and reroot the plant. The weather here has been very wet and stormy, Even though I have it under an oning, it seems to still be picking up a lot of moisture, maybe through the humidity levels here as well. Today I transplanted the cutting into another pot with dryer soil, making sure to leave the black spots above the soil line. I'm thinking about bringing the Bridgesii inside my room but I keep the lights off and temp at a low 65-70 degrees in my love chamber. Is this too cold? Any suggestions on what I should due? Worst case scenario is I cut it above the black rot but I'm trying my hardest not to.

No hesitation I'd cutting it off and root it.. doesn't look like you have enough perlite or stone in your soil..

The soil I took it out of did, I just ran out of perlite. I was just trying to get it in some dryer soil ASAP.

I'm just really trying to save the root system I already have going. That one spot is the worst part. I'm thinking if I can keep it away from all moisture, it will heal just fine but I've never dealt with black rot before. It started getting better but somehow or another the soil got wet again.

I personally wouldn't risk it, roots can regrow.. you can try keeping it dry but things like this have a tendency to come back.

I think people recommend cinnamon powder for that. The black rot will probable just keep on spreading no matter how dry you keep the soil, since it's on the pup. You'll need to at least cut out the rotting part.

I agree.. I don't think cinnamon does the trick. You grew a nice brigesii pup out of that. I would cut the pup off above the rot and root it. Let it be free of that. You can always keep the base try some cinnamon for it and see if it grows another pup..

No need for surgery. Weeping black rot doesnt kill it. It will leave ugly scars but thats it.

I second that... The general rule is that if it's soft it's rot. If the skin is firm to the touch, don't go cutting it.
The only thing these guys said above that I definitely do agree with is that your soil desperately needs more Perlite/Pumice/Lava Rock/Gravel. Something that isn't going to retain moisture and give a little bit of well-needed oxygen to those roots.

If it has rot you don´t need to ask you know. Cut it back to sound flesh and let it callous before you start again.
