Now I have a question everything I read said chanterelle are supposed to have blunt gillsa but these are kinda knife like the reason I kept them with that doubt was the flesh was white, plus the gills fork where every picture of the jack o lantern where super straight with no forks and orange colored flesh is there anything else I should look for

Big fleshy cross-veins are a good sign. These don't look like fine gills to me! These shots could be better if you want to be certain. The lighting and focus.

Thank you for the info I looked all over and decided that the odds are more in the favor of chanterelle that with your Id I took the next step and tried a micro portion as self guineapig (your I'd helped but wasn't my deciding point) so now I'll see ty for your wisdom I'm kinda excited as these are the first I personally found harvested and tried

They look a bit older and dirty but still good. Chanterelles are one genus I feel super comfy with as I have picked them at times professionally for 20 years. Those be them! Enjoy the peppery goodness (very unique pepper taste) and congrats on your first find. They are likely to fruit in the same spot for years. Also once you see Omphalotus sp. gills in person, they are very different and easy to distinguish.
