lophophora not quite flowering
    #23563127 - 08/21/16 02:20 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

It seems my lophophora starts to flower and flower dies  only for a new one to start and fail again. I've only seen this one flower one time since the two years I've had it. Is this normal?

Today's high is 85 farienhiet but only because it's been raining these past few days. It typically gets up to 100 or upper 90s at least when the sun is out

I'd try more light then.. really there is no reason they can't have full light. They live is harsh conditions. I think people don't acclimate them to light properly. Give them a few more hours then wait and a few more until they are hardened. Gradual changes is what you need

That is one intriguing plant. Is the big head on the right part of the cluster or did it nest itself there?

Thanks guys and yes, the largest head is part of the cluster. The plant pictured is a single plant. I forget what variation it is, but its a lophophora that produces clusters of heads. Theres something like 20, with several pinners showing up between the cracks

Totally agree - all my Lophopora enjoy the full Mediterranean sun and lap it up.  And the sprouts germinate and grow in full sun - so they are already acclimated.
And new plants certainly need to be acclimated gradually.  When I buy plants from nurseries in northern Europe they are a couple of months before they are fully used to conditions here.
