Louisiana mushroom identification

Habitat:
Grows on soil, seems to be prevalent anywhere that isn't shaded. Found at Barksdale AFB.

Gills:
Cream coloured gills, not attached.

Stem:
4-5 inch long stem, about 3/4 of an inch in diameter and with the remnant of the veil attached.

Cap:
Approximately 5 inches in diameter, cream coloured with brown speckles near the center. Convex cap with slightly sticky texture, though that may be from the humidity.

Spore print color:
Creamy white.

Bruising:
No change in colour from bruising.

Other information:
Mushroom has a slightly sweet smell.

It looks like a Chlorophyllum sp.

Out of interest, why do you think chlorophyllum rather than macrolepiota?

There are species with synonymies covering both genera but it is worth checking, I am not local to you - I suggest it is not the snakeskin parasol because no snakeskin, and not a cap expanding throughout development into very neat fluff and scales. It resembles C. molybdites with the concentration of smooth velar remnants at the centre but you have suggested the print doesn't support that. I think monitor those gills.

I'm fairly certain it's not a Shaggy Parasol, because the speckles on the tops aren't as prevalent as the ones depicted on it. They also remain convex through the entire fruiting process, they don't upturn once they age. They grow in small clusters, with often several clusters close together, I left that out.
