1 out of 2 jars exploded WBS

I started off with Frank's WBS Tek and since then I have been basically stripping it of any extra steps that may cause exploded WBS.
The WBS soaked for 24 hours, continued to a hot water rinse and drain, just to stay away from simmering to see what's going on with my method, then proceeded to PC for 70 minutes.
I have 3 jar bands in the bottom of my PC with the actual tray it came with sitting atop that. I let it cool overnight and just opened my PC to find one jar perfectly fine, and the othe jar with splits and starch everywhere. What might be going on here?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you pull the weight off the PC while it was still pressurized? Could just be a glass defect or maybe you chipped the glass accidentally some time ago and it just decided to let go. These jars go through tremendous stress during a pc cycle.
edit: ...for some reason I read that you broke a jar, not burst grains. Disregard

Brand new jars and everything was left to sit naturally.
I hope someone with some PC experience will chime in.
I'll add too, the one jar that popped like a mother fucker, was sitting almost directly on top of one of the bands on the bottom. The rack being in between of course.

Probably just a manufacturing defect on the jar then. It still had plenty of water when it was done?

Could also be extremely hot grains put in a cold jar then suddenly placed in cold water.

None of the above.
1 out of 2 jars makes for something that is detail specific.

How much do you loosen? I get it tight, not super tight, then slightly loosen. Maybe I'm in need of more loosening. Also, since you're here and this is a debated topic as I can see, how do you have your water in your PC? Touching the bottoms of your jars or not?
I'm running a test right now with some WBS. 4 foil balls underneath the rack. The foil balls bring the rack up higher than the jar bands did. My water is a little over an inch, but it's not touching the jar inside. Call it a "dry run" I guess.

The water comes up roughly 1/2-3/4 up from the bottom stack of jars with my metal ring that came with the pc And there'll usually be some water left after a hour and 45 minutes.
Ill tighten them but not right then do a 90 degree counterclockwise turn with it lol I know it's a circle but it doesn't have to be perfect but that's where the foil comes into play and won't let water get in so male make sure to add foil after loosening to the top of the jar and seal it around it

Maybe that's my problem then, too much pressure in the jar. I'll report back when this cycle finishes. Lid on extra loosely, with foil of course.

I think there is a misunderstanding. Correct me if I'm wrong, but your jars aren't breaking, you're just getting burst grains. If that's the case your lid tightness isn't going to make any difference.
I used to use rye a lot when I could still get it in my area. Now I use WBS because it's cheap and easy to find. I used to soak my rye and finish it off with a simmer, never had much of a problem with burst grains. I tried to apply the same process to WBS, minus the simmer, and I was getting burst grains and messy starch especially near the bottom of my jars.
I made the switch to FooMan's tek which basically involves adding your WBS to boiling water, letting it sit for 1 hour+ and then rinsing it well, draining, then cooking. Not only do I not get burst grains anymore, my jars are much cleaner from the rinsing. It also allows you to prep and cook in the same day rather than over a 2 day period of time.

Dude nice. I'm going to check out his Tek right now.
My next try was going to consist of a soak, but with exchanging the water out every hour with fresh boiled water, then PC.
Sounds close, so maybe I'm kinda figuring this out. Trial and error right? It's just odd that only one jar had that nasty starch mushed up look.
