Got some pan's hawaii. Question about fruiting chamber.

Whats up everyone! First time with panaeolus. Got these colonizing. Been doing a little research and came across this post. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/19805512/fpart/1/vc/1t.
Didn't know wether to comment on that post or just make a new one. Curious to see if anyone has any experience with this style of fruiting chamber. And how you would keep humidity?

The local king pin use those trays. Nothing wrong if in a open room around them and mist daily.

Are you going to modify those lids at some point?

You could fruit them in a monotub just to retain humidity from the sub.
Removing the lid and leaving it in the open will dry up quickly

Yea I was planning to do the same typr of chamber in the post given SuperFly had such great results. He did almost like a SGFC but just on the plastic lid and much smaller holes made with a soldering iron. Whats got me thinking is without the perlite and the open holes how would the humidity stay up and sub not dry out.

You'll be getting humidity from the evaporation of the substrate in the tray. The holes won't be big enough to dry out your trays quickly, if you plan to do it like Superfly. Just keep an eye on it and mist it when the trays need it. Other than that you should be fine with the micro-climate inside the dub greenhouse

Goodluck Buddy
I will be trying something similar to this with Pans this coming winter, just waiting for the temps to drop a bit so I can control the macro climate better

Got an update and question for my panaeolus tray's.
Are these ready to case and fruit or wait just a tad more? There now in day 9 of colonization. And also kinda noticed its a bit wet in there. Wondering if that amount of water droplets is okay? This has never happend to me before when Ive done cubes colonizing in a taped up mono.

Wait a few more days to case. You want it pretty much completely snowy. Looks good, the water droplets are normal.

A very interesting/ impressive grow scheme- I didn't see any information on this thread or Superfly's thread on fanning during fruiting.
With an SGFC you fan with the lid periodically to provide fast air exchange- are you planning on fanning this during fruiting and if so, at what frequency?

Spoilt for choice really
Some would argue that you should wait until it's fully colonized others will tell you to slap on some verm and wait a few days before fruiting.
IMHO I would case it, give it a few days and fruit
The water droplets is fine. Its the evaporated humidity from the heat the mycelium is giving off. Its a good indication that they are well hydrated and you shouldn't get any problems. The worst is when you get pools of water just ideally standing there

There is no point in fanning an SGFC seeing as you got about 12 holes on all six sides constantly changing CO2 build up with oxygen. The only real point is when you have too much water but in that case it's your fault for not bringing the sub to field capacity/ The whole point of the SGFC is so it can automatically take care of itself seeing as RR developed it to fit his tight schedule, would really need a misting every now again

Alright sweet! I was starting to worry a bit which is why I took the lids off to take the excess water droplets that were accumilating on the tray lids. Ill prolly just give it this whole day to colonize a little more. I'll check again and see what the progress is. If the myc moves a bit then ill case tomorrow. Also wanted to say thanks again for the help and info really appreciate it.
