Very strange fungus
    #23557083 - 08/19/16 02:27 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

I really tried to get good focus, this is the best I can do.

I touched the black parts, they are very hard and release no spores.
The brown parts are soft and flexible and release lots of brown powder/spores.

This is on the outside plastic of a contaminated poly log, it's not connected to the substrate.

It's the brown carpet looking mass that I'm wondering about.

Yes, the brown is Stemonitis (not a fungus).

It certainly looks that way.  Seeing as how it's been growing very rapidly on nothing but plastic, I'm tempted to say
that it's living it's entire life on eating the oyster spores in the air.
