I'm more curious as to why you're cooking coir than why there's holes in your turkey tin
You can pasteurize coir by simply pouring boiling water over it in a 5 gallon bucket and placing a lid on.

And I'm curious as to why you're using Turkey pans. Mycelium will eat right through aluminum after some time.

So your coir is contaminating on its own??

Are you adding water to it before you need it? My coir comes in bricks and it could have shit on it but I don't open it till I make my tubs?? Do you buy the already shredded up bags of it or what?

even hydrated coir should be fine to use... like indefinitely I've seen most every poster here say that they've used very old coir
this is strange...

Ya I just barely started using coir and mix it with hpoo I've had mine sitting in the garage for two months and haven't seen no nasties on it unless he pre mixes it with the verm and gypsum to field capacity before use and doesn't pasteurize??
