do we know who the first mycologists were to have discovered the method of fruiting cubensis?

dear folks: i am wondering how many of you out there are familiar with the very first attempts at cultivating cubensis, and who was involved, and how it evolved initially to begin with in mexico with Gordon Wasson's research? :mushroom2::sun:

Ron, it's an honor to have you here. Welcome to the shroomery!
Based on how you phrase the question, I'm hoping you have a history lesson for us.

fungus: thank you very much for this kind remark and i appreciate it. i have a set of three larger books now on ebay that i ordered in the 70s from a bookstore in binghamton new york where i was born and raised and the set was gordon wasson's (ex banker turned ethnomycologist) work with shaman maria sabrina in mexico in the early 50's (not sure of this date anymore as i have been away from etnomycological studies for many years now but i will check that for you) with a sick young man, and wasson developed a musical score and cassette tapes of maria sabina talking to the mushroom being about whether the boy would live or not. this set has turned out to be something of a rarity and i have it on ebay now for $1350 i think. this is why terrence mckenna was so fascinated with mushrooms. as a result of wassons work in mexico an article appeared in life magazine front cover (life was the big magazine then) and i cannot recall the date but i will find it of the publication. this brought to the attention of the so called modern world the fact that shamans were using mushrooms in mexico for healing etc. and started an onslaught of hippies onto the home of maria sabina a remote place in the desert/mountains there searching for mushrooms. more later ok because there is much more and it is a very fascinating story i think.
