Mass/Conn Border central Ma.
    #23554479 - 08/18/16 07:03 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

This was growing from a patch of dead/brown grass in my lawn most likely from my dogs piss. My lawn is nothing special, its lush and green but Ive never fertilized it. If anything occasionally Ill take the bag off when Im mowing to mulch the grass a little. It's full/green and there some clovers and such . anyway the spore print from the mushroom didnt reveal much. Initially on paper it looked white but I tried it on a red colored background and it seems transparent. Just kind of an oily outline with no real color. Im just curious, can anyone Identify this? If so it would be much appreciated as always. Thanks!

Oh! Cool! I'm reading that Pan subbs won't really grow from lawns? I quote from a different thread :

"And chances of m finding them in a lawn are zilch. Maybe one in ten thousand panaeolina foenisecii will be a Panaeolus subbalteatus.

And yes Joshua foound a lawn of them a few years back whic is extremmely rare.

mj"

I've searched at a pasture (with permission), I've searched through the manure and woodchip compost, but I still haven't found any panaeolus cinctulus, which seems to be my only real shot at finding any active. I searched back in late July so it's been a few weeks. What will increase my chances most? Any real pointers? Aside from the close encounters of the pan. I will read that entirely after finishing this post, but I have mostly read it already. (Seeing the shroom from a distance, and being beckoned to the shroom)  this is me right now . I am being beckoned by the shroom, but I just can't find it

they can grow in really well fertilized lawns also, I think that those are considerably less active than the dung fed ones though.

Thought those pics looked familiar... https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23553484#23553484

Why so many consecutive and duplicate posts?

Would I be better off searching through a cow pasture or horse pasture? Seems like a stupid question but maybe 1 has richer/ more concentrated dung? ..golf courses? Ive noticed some fast food chains have fertile lawns. Here in Mass the landscape is weak,  if you cross the border 2 hours west into new york, it is literally an instant world of difference. Same a little north with Nh/Vt/Me. The part of Ct which Borders less than 5 miles from me looks alot like Mass, it's alot more rural but not much greener. Not like upstate NY at least. Nonetheless there are stables, pastures and fertile lawns all around.

Please refrain from "bumping" your thread so frequently and/or creating a duplicate post (the same photos were in a previous post that's still on the first page). It is extremely unfair to others who are patiently awaiting an ID.

Also, please review the rules
