9 times out of 10 people are using antibiotics in agar to try to make up for lack of skill. Got a wild print or clone?

Try sandwich technique or quicker transfers. Antibiotics can lead to hidden bacteria problems

The sandwich tek on here is from GGMM, they both utilize antibiotic agar, and I think GGMM has the formula for it. But like they are saying you shouldn't need that, especially considering it's your own clone, you may better off taking new samples and paying attention to detail of technique.

I was cutting the stem instead of breaking it I already figured it out and I'm trying to save the clone but this wasn't a question of my technique but if that was good antibiotic but just like everything on this site it's people preference and alot of contradicting shit

I would not recommend you use antibiotic agar. I know there is contradicting information, but you must be able to distinguish good advice from bad advice. there are several ways to help do that here. check peoples ratings, main threads, galleries, etc... I'm positive you will find that the people telling you to stay away from antibiotic agar are going to be the users with many positive ratings, ample new topics, and plenty of grow pictures. Antibiotic agar is extremely limited in its usage in mycology.

this wasn't a question of my technique but if that was good antibiotic
I appreciate that, but the point everyone is making is you should not be using that at all. forget if its 'good antibiotic' or not, it simply does not belong on your workbench. and if you do use it, you will possibly make things a lot more difficult on yourself, if not ending in total failure. because....
antibiotic agar prevents bacterial endospores from germinating on your agar plate... but there is absolutely nothing stopping them from germinating on your grains once you drop that agar to grains. the goal is to produce clean agar plates with no contaminates and no endospores to germinate later. if you use antibiotic agar, you will eventually put bacteria on your grains and the whole lots gonna goto shit and you're gonna be pissed the fuck off.

How about using antibiotics for cleaning up a spore syringe? I have a syringe that seems to be contaminated and I'd like to salvage it if I can and get my project going. Inoculating agar with it, and due to my location PITA + time to get another one. Has anyone tried this or know about doing it? I'm figuring at this point it can't hurt. I was thinking of getting amoxicillin or tetracycline (or whatever I can find) from the pet store and sucking some up into the syringe and mixing it around for a bit before I try inoculating agar again.

Ha, yeah sorry to dredge up old corpses, seemed like one of the more recent discussions of contaminated syringes and contamination.
Unnecessary, as in futile? So far everything about my plates is perfectly contamination free but the streak from my inoculation loop grows a pale yellow-green slime that I assume is bacterial contamination. Only thing on that loop before it touches the plate is a few drops from the syringe. Flame sterilized immediately before the syringe fluid hits it. Just throw out syringe? Was thinking maybe I could salvage it with antibacterials.
