hold on a minute I never said anything about wanting to hear a different answer in all reality I was glad I didn't have to use the antibiotics it's just one more thing to fuck with ... and what I was saying was the fact I already know my technique sucks sometimes and that's why I have other shit germinating but I've been doing this for five months and had only read a little here and there before so shit I ask about or whatever has been read here I'm not trying to say anything that you guys don't know your shit.... why I said what I said is because I was asking about the antibiotic you guys said don't use it OK I won't but I already know I have to fix my technique I'm not being salty or trying to sound disrespectful

How about using antibiotics for cleaning up a spore syringe? I have a syringe that seems to be contaminated and I'd like to salvage it if I can and get my project going. Inoculating agar with it, and due to my location PITA + time to get another one. Has anyone tried this or know about doing it? I'm figuring at this point it can't hurt. I was thinking of getting amoxicillin or tetracycline (or whatever I can find) from the pet store and sucking some up into the syringe and mixing it around for a bit before I try inoculating agar again.

Ha, yeah sorry to dredge up old corpses, seemed like one of the more recent discussions of contaminated syringes and contamination.
Unnecessary, as in futile? So far everything about my plates is perfectly contamination free but the streak from my inoculation loop grows a pale yellow-green slime that I assume is bacterial contamination. Only thing on that loop before it touches the plate is a few drops from the syringe. Flame sterilized immediately before the syringe fluid hits it. Just throw out syringe? Was thinking maybe I could salvage it with antibacterials.
