An experiment with Trametes versicolor
    #23554086 - 08/18/16 05:16 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

The goal is to grow Trametes versicolor mycelium suspended in liquid. There are medicinal compounds produced by this fungus that are water soluble. So maybe some of those water soluble compounds are lost to the broth its growing in?

I want to grow some mycelium in liquid culture, and analyze the % medicinal compounds per dried mass of mycelium. And then compare that to some dried mycelium grown on agar. If the concentrations are similar, there is no loss of compounds to the nutrient broth. If there is less produced in the LC, we can conclude there is loss of compounds to the broth.

Ive found this recipe for nutrient broth a research team used:

although another team found 3 to be the best.

I dont know if i want to buy all those chemicals for a recreational experiment.. Does anyone know of premade broths or nutrient powder mixes specifically formulated for T. versicolor?
