Quick Agar question

So....I'm going to cook up my first batch of agar today, using the pour method into petri dishes, and I am unclear on one point:
Should I wrap the dishes after I pour and before the agar solidifies, or just leave them in the SAB and wrap them up after I inoculate them?

I would like to see you wrap one before it solidified.
You can put them back info the sleeve they came out of after they solidify. Or Ziploc, or wrap but then you just have to unwrap and re wrap and that's dumb
You could just read the agar teks

Do not attempt to wrap them before they solidify! You'll just slosh the agar around and make a mess. Wait till it solidifies to wrap if you plan on storing any for later use or wait to solidify and cool then inoc immediately and wrap them after.

Thanks for the quick replies!
I've read that when the dishes are cooling they suck in a little bit of air and it could contaminate them. Hence my concern.
Thanks again for clearing it up.

Sucking air in on cooling is an excuse noobs like to use for failure so they do implicate their own shit methods and lack of skill.

I've been doing pour agar for a while and haven't had a contam related to pouring and cooling in this fashion since i started
I have a stack of cricket agar plates i made at least 2 months ago wrapped in cellophane just sitting on my shelf, no ziplock or nothin, and they still haven't contamed or or dried out.

Use one or two right away and the rest fit in with enough slack to fold the sleeve over so you can tape it down

That's pretty funny. I'll be using seran wrap for now until my parafilm gets here. One of the teks i read suggested cutting the roll into two-inch sections. Sounds good to me!
foil? lol

Since I've already got a post up maybe I can sneak one more question in:
Is it better to cut a wedge or scrape a tiny piece of myc (with a scalpel)?
I see a lot of people cutting chunks of agar out but it seems like it might be good to scrape a smaller piece if you can..... maybe the scalpel would damage the myc by scraping?
It seems like everyone is doing the same thing for a reason, and probably a good one. I haven't found a decent search result on this.

With a wedge mycelium has to crawl off so if you didn't have a clean plate or transfer you might see it quicker. You will damage mycelium scraping sure bit can't kill all of it

I'm just gonna throw it out there that I probably failed pretty bad on this run. Those 3-section petris are a bitch!
First of all, my sab wasn't tall enough for the sleeve of petri's to stand upright, so I had to lay it on it's side and open it. When I finally got four manageable stacks (I didn't have it in me for two stacks) I went to pour and it came out quicker than I thought. The first quarter of my petris have agar either in between the three-section barrier or all down the side on the outside....a fail for sure.
It got easier about halfway through.
If I have 5 good dishes out of the 20 I poured it'll be a miracle.
I can definitely see more practice in my future, and I think I'm gonna get some regular dishes next time.

I have to slide my dishes out sideways too then two stacks of 10. I put something under the most bottom dishes like empty petris that are unsterile now. That way the bottom most plate isn't directly on the floor of the SAB which makes that one awkward to pour

Is there a particular way you open your sleeve of petri dishes when they're laying on their side? What I ended up doing was cutting the sleeve in half by the length (rendering the sleeve almost useless) and then I stood the dishes up. I think this was a shitty thing to do and I'm open to suggestions.

Idk I just slide them out without letting the dishes open up
