So it was night time when I found this guy. I threw it on the ground discarding it. Was still a little curious about it later so I went back to it for a look. MAN!, This thing was covered in cockroaches, not small ones either. These were all 2 inch roaches or better. They eat these things, or do they get high on them. I guess roaches can eat anything...

not necessarily.  both the american cockroach and the florida woods cockroach live outdoors in mulchy/woodsy habitats, especially during warm wx.  both species are opportunistic feeders and will eat woody debris, fungi, etc. afaik.

sounds like Eurycotis floridana, the florida woods cockroach and sometimes called palmetto bugs.
