Beginner Question: WBS jar creation

Ok so I just attempted to create my first set of WBS jars. I was following a tek off different site which recommend just adding water with the bird seed and PC. I did this then knock up jars I'm on day 8 with no growth not even a sign in the jars and they smell really weird which is a sign I probably screw up some where. I began reading and seen that people soak then drain WBS along with soaking it is this necessary? Some even included simmering would anyone experience recommend this extra step? Also I realize sterilization is very key which I emphasized to the point of wearing dust suit which by the way is strange in home kitchen lol. But there only other place I figure I could of made mistake on jar lid as I used siclone which does allow gas exchange is that key component nt when inoculation of the jars this upcoming trial going use the poly fil like recommended jus had trouble get in lid. Thanks for advice new hobby just looking for pointers and a general direction to get good yeilds. P.S. Is it bad sign to have brown liquid and black seed after PC over PCing?

How did you inoculate your jars, you mentioned standing in a dust suit in your kitchen? This is more than likely a factor as well as you jars being sterilized, you also mentioned using silicone for GE, that's usually utilized as a sort of port for sticking a needle into, a filter is the thing you need, polyfil works great, if your having trouble getting it into the hole use a pen or something to help you start guiding it through, it has to be pretty tight. And as someone previously said you can look at one of those teks, I recommend a 12-15 hour soak with bird seed followed by draining and loading into jars, the soak helps germinate the endospores and hydrate the grains a bit befor the cycle. A cheaper and more readily available source of spawn for the future would be just straight millet, milo, or oats from the feed stores which in the end is easier to dial in with the soaking method. Good luck

Well i used spore syringe but in future look to use LC as it looks most cost effective. But I see you mention millet or rye I've heard of do these trump WBS?

WBS typically consists of Millet + Milo (red sorghum grain) + Sunflower Seeds, and sometimes corn and wheat gets added too.
I really like straight milo it's Very cheap and works great. Rye is good but much more expensive and seasonal around here. You can't even buy rye half the year locally. Milo is ~$8/50lb sack and always at the feed stores.
Don't do that no prep tek anymore. At the very least soak it for 8-12 hours starting with boiling water. Best to rinse it first.

I put the WBS in a bucket, pour boiling water into it and let it sit for one hour before rinsing, straining, drying a bit and PC for 2 hours

You should follow the teks here to the t man.
You should build a SAB too.
I think foomans tek is the best when it comes to wbs/millet.
Use polyfill as a filter, its the easiest fastest way to make filters.

I apologize. I originally posted "lol wut" thinking this was a thread from earlier where OP hadnt even made it to inoculation. Then I edited to just "wut" in hopes of not coming across as a stupid idiot to no avail
