Hi guys, subjec says it all basically introducing myself and showing my FIRST set up that my parents surprised me with.... I made sure to absolutely follow everything in the book they sent and was absolutely sterile to the Tee with gloves and 70% alcohol even bought a brand new stock pot....now they ordered the "Mega"jar and it came with everything and it's currently all colonizing on 1 pasteurized burlap sack of day and is already day 3 going on 4 Now ...my only problem right now is keeping the heat and have been fighting with it just recently all day today , if I turn my heater down the temp goes down to 20 and when I keep it at low it goes up to 29 ,30..also the instructions told me to use this heater and calls for temps of 26-28 during colonizing .. I checked on it and took a pic today without exposing too much light ...even tho I'm worried sick of the temp I feel their doing good and look great no discolor figuration just straw and white fluff ....any thoughts?! Peace &Love✌

20C is preferable. Light is beneficial during all stages of growth. The information in that book must be outdated as hell. Sounds like you're using a grow kit which are notorious for failure. Turn some lights on and get some clear pictures of this thing and maybe an experienced grower will come along and tell you how to salvage your grow if at all possible.

amidogen is on the money...
The reason I told you to put the book down is because many books you will find on mushroom cultivation contain outdated techniques (like for example, that light will harm mushrooms). Even respectable books with good information in them still have parts that are outdated.
Remember, DIY mushroom cultivation has only been widespread since the 80's. Its a very new hobby. We are constantly learning new and better ways of doing things....

Bro try not to take it so personally. You were given good info. The book you have does not compare to a lot of these growers real world experience. Check their past grow logs and you should be able to tell the advice they give is golden. Harsh and at times without sensitivity but still golden!
