It's not a Pan dude... It was growing near my blue foot (caerulipes) patch. Growing out from under a beech log. Call me crazy, but it looks rather "fagicola"esque to my eye. The spore print was kind of an olive greenish color when I peeked at it, then it dried to a typical chocolatey brown as it dried.

Not particularly. possibly on the stem, but hard to tell against the reddish brown color.

hopefully A-Rock will chime in, this definitely looks like something he might pull out of a Mexican cloud forest.

I feel quite stupid for suggesting pan as the gills clearly aren't mottled in the slightest. Does it smell farinaceous?

It did smell farinaceous. Yes.

Could be something in that genus! The gills do look rather Agaricus-like. I'm on the east coast obviously, so maybe it's an undescribed species??

Not sure - I think you're in the range for the species, and somewhere online called it an aggregate anyway, so it seems plausible it is just that, which I guess is still a remarkable find.
