Cultivation - Beginner Basics Question.

Okay, apologies if this question doubles up on any of the information out there - but a tad overwhelmed currently.
I've spent the majority of winter scouting for shrooms and have had a couple of successes but really want to have my own source; so I've got a choose from one of the many methods.
My questions are this:
There are plenty of spots where I've found mycelium to be plentiful. So, theoretically I should be able to use this to grow my own right? Perhaps replicating some of the grow kits out there, right?
I really want a shroom that grows easily all year round. (I live in a dry climate with a wet winter and dry summer). Ideally, I want a method that doesn't require too much effort, but I'll do what it takes really.
Any pointers or anything that narrows what I'm looking for would be grand.
Cheers,

Can you start from wild? Yes i am about to start from spores of a wild fruit growing from cow manure in a zip lock, the veils about to tear and ill make a spore print and clone its tissue.
Try cubensis or mexicana sclerotia. Here are a few pic walk throughs and good demonstrations. Read through the entire thread or most to see answered questions or clarifications. Spend a couple hundred max and youre rolling,

Drill holes so that the bottom of each hole is the depth you want your substrate at, you need to add some holes at the top too, however many will work. With the clear tubs i used two black trashbag's to block light from the sides of the tub and act as a tray.

Your jars are fully colonized and its time to spawn. Assuming your using my easy coir tek you already have the substrate measured out for each tub in each bucket your using... dump it all in and even it out a little.

I like to use a fork to get the WBS out of the jars dump all but a quart onto your substrate and mix it in well, then cut excess trashbag away.

Now use your last quart as a "frosting layer" Spread it evenly then mix into the top inch or so of substrate.

Obviously nothing fancy, but a good tool the level. I use it to scrape the top of the substrate and make it level as it can get.

I then pack the holes loosely with polyfil and put a blanket over them for colonization. Here's a closeup of how the substrate looks before putting lid on, and the whole fineshed tub.

harvest pics.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.. credit goes to all of you who's supplied good information to this board and especially ohm and mm who played a good role in this method of fruiting. Some other great monotub links using clear bins, you might wanna refer to:

People tend to make life more complicated than it can be, we all have different size holes and air currents, all with great results. Tweak it to your preforation and you'll end up with wonderful results like these, works great with any strain.

Peace
-------------------- But if you're in a hurry, and really got to go If you're in a hurry, might have to find out slow That it's one thing to try and another to fly You get there quicker just a step at a time It's one thing to bark, another to bite The show ain't over till you pack up at night
