Lazy Viking Grow
    #23547418 - 08/16/16 04:40 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

Hi time i stop lurking around and join the fun here on shroomery
thought i should start showing of my grow and get some feedback on my work (i am a super noob)

so far i have 3 bags spawning from a "strain" (correct me if im wrong) called McKenaii. i havent read so much about others growing this strain or any info so much other then whats available on the merchant website where i got the spore syringe i use.

i have grown one pf cake before, and as lazy as i am i ordered mine fom a supplier near me. but this time i ordered 3 new ones and got bags of rye grain...

so anyways i inoculated 1 week ago and this is how they look so far

btw i read somewhere but i cant search of my dyslexia to find it that its no prob to fruit a rye grain cake without significant loss? is this just jibbirish`?
but is it okay to put a rye cake inside a shotgun fruiting chamber without casing?

*update 1 20/08/16
okay i wasn't an idiot and i finally got it out of my head to fruit a rye cake :P

(crumbled one bag) was told that i had mad bacteria though so i just crumbled up one to see the myc eating it up more

*Update 2 21/08/16

lookin better after that crumbling compared to the one i havent crumbled, eat that shit up! :P

*Update 3 22/08/16

ok i might have panicked abit and put it all to bulk (cast away uncolonized grains since i thought mad bacteria attack commin :P)
hope it was okay. so now i have a fucked up monotub and too much substrate so its covering up the side holes lol. so all in all i mixed rye grains and coco coir only with a fine coir layer on top.

*Update 4 26/08/16

things are happening so trying to take some pic with my potato camera :P

*Update 5 28/08/16

*update 6 01/09/16

things look like speeding up

(water is comming)
were i live its fucking humid at this time of year with temperature swings like crazy so i easily get water in my tub building up.

*Update 7 02/09/16

fuck yeah new camera to show of how fucked up my stoned tup is :P

and water keeps rising :P

*Update 8 05/09/16

okay things was put into fruit as best as i could so i squeezed polyfil into the blocked holes on the sides so it got some "gas ex ange"? hehe
droplets everywhere looks like pearls on my myc, cant stop watching haha.

but water keeps rising and is here to stay lol

but i found these snacks outside so im content ^^

i love growing mushrooms but damn i have a hard time keeping a lid on my patience gaaaad :P i feel i can satisfy my patience with my cannabis plants since i easily see growth from both sides in my hydro all the time but with my mono i just keep staring into the tub all day haha :P

btw you guys want some pics of my two ladie plants too? ^^

*Update 9 13/09/16
Knots have arived!

*Update 10 17/09/16

Awwyeah some pin porn
:bigblunt:

A rye cake is terrible and most definitely not worth your time and effort. Make BRF cakes. No need for a pressure cooker with BRF.

Rye bags and jars are spawned to bulk substrates like CVG. We do not fruit Rye as cakes by itself.

buy a brick of coir, find user "damion5050" 's coir tek. AKA the bucket tek. do the bucket tek on a brick of coir mix with your colonized rye. fruit it in a monotub. links in my signature also will go to these threads and ones you can use to actually get something for your efforts

been reading about something a user "Violet" keeps saying that aslong aslong as you provide water for the myc i can just case the rye cake with verm "roll and dunk" untill no grains are exposed and the result should be good in an SGFC right? or if i have missread hes words im sorry about that.

just curious about an lazy method and how much it yelds compared to a bulk so i think i will atleast take one of the bags and try this with casing a cake and the rest of the two i will use the bucket tek

violet's techniques are controversial, at best.

but to compare yields between an sgfc full of rye cakes, and a monotub with cvg... I would say the monotub would produce at least 4-5x as much. don't quote me on that figure... but it would be significantly more than the cakes.

idk how you long you have been watching this board, but how many people in active, new topics do you see using violet's teks? practically nobody. everyone pretty much does pf-tek, bulk bottles, or bulk tubs.

true true i havent read someone post anything about it anywere near recent time so i was just overly curious since i was looking for some real comparisons and if there are picture and proof hehe and hey mabye alot of knowlage has changed durring the past years so hence my curiosity  pluss my suplier screwed me ower by sending me plain sterilized rye grain instead of a bag of BRF so i could be super lazy and just start birthing them in SGFC.

so now i was just wondering what to do with the 3 bags of rye grain that i have. can i be lazy and birth them after dunking them in water and covering the shit out of them with vercumlite or is there anyother smart or dumb ideas to look over?

i will do a bulk since i have never done it before so im abit scared but curious to learn.

but i was also curious about the other 2 bags i have (2 kilo each bag)
i can just bulk them too but like to see some comparison results from different methods and finaly kill my curiosity about birthing a rye "cake"

donk know i have dyslexia so this forum i often get caught up :P
anyways i didnt follow any of violets things i read. i simply just used a bucket tek and layered a coir casing in a monotub that looks wierd
so far i think it looks ok but thats why im showing of so i can get all kinds of comments on my work

some update on my tub

it looks super humid in there... there are droplets on the mycelium on the top of my casing (i used coir as casing and now the casing is getteng chewed up)

should i fruit it now?

i know its pretty uneven inside thats why abit spread colonization.
pluss i kinda fucked up when i made my tub so it only has 2 holes on each side in the top of the handle.
and there are pooling water on the side im wondering if i should drain or leave since my substrate is inside a bag inside the tub.
