no need to lie about it
on 6/26/2016 it was 31c/87.8 and if the old record from 1914 was 100F, well that means it was much cooler this year

This is also why I water my lawn so much, (in case anyone missed it, I used 42,000 gallons last month, lol) plants pull co2 from the air, by keeping a super green healthy lawn, I'm also helping cool the planet, or at least offsetting my dirty diesel
Oh and one more thing, Paul Stamets once said fungi are a sign of a healthy lawn, my lawn has mushies growing everywhere after a good rain so I must be doing SOMETHING right, right?

Our only hope is radical geoengineering and it needs to start now.
I have to believe the powers that be recognize that this is not just an existential threat but a gauranteed apocalypse if we don't deal with it now and our putting plans in place .
This is going to accelerate incredibly fast .

We need to find a cheap renewable energy source, and then we need to use it to sequester atmospheric carbon in various forms. This is one of the few ways to restore the climate no matter how much CO2 is released. The only question is; will we actually be able to do it?

Methane levels are driven mainly by temperature, and therefore CO2 is the main driver of methane levels (the vast majority of methane comes from the decomposition of organic matter, either to be released immediately or stored in permafrost and hydrates which are released as temperatures increase)
20% of methane release in the US is from agriculture. This may be less now since it turns out that fracking operations have massive amounts of accidental methane releases.
Methane is fucking scary. There is a lot of methane stored at the bottom of the oceans and in permafrost and there could easily be a tipping point where methane becomes the main driver of temperature increases and we get runaway warming.
Methane is a more potent absorber of infrared radiation, but it doesn't linger like CO2 does. It is lighter than air, so it tends to move up in the atmosphere so it doesn't heat the ground level as much as CO2, which is heavier than air. It is also destroyed fairly easily by sunlight.
Add fracking to that mix and methane becomes an even bigger threat. Some people just flat out crack me up. They disagree with 98 plus percent of climatologists/ scientists and agree with those scientists that can be bought by the fossil fuel industries. I never knew there were so many climatologists on the Shroomery. I also like it when people say that because it's not hotter in their neighborhood that this is a hoax. Lol...these temps are mean temps from around the globe...they don't always translate to your back yard...and because of polar ice melt...and cooling of the seas around it...your temps may be even be quite a bit cooler. Global warming is happening and it IS because of human factors. Methane and CO2 are at historic highs and, like Koods said, they trap heat in our atmosphere. Why is this so hard to believe?

it was only 84 today with no rain and clear skies, no clue where you come up with these crazy temperatures like 109. normally we'd be seeing much hotter temps by at least 20 degrees. it makes me wonder how they've come up with this 'hottest summer ever recorded' stuff
