July was the hottest month ever recorded

July was the hottest month in 136 years of recorded monthly data. Last month was 1.5° F above the average July temperature. Can we stop pretending that global warming is a hoax?

I don't think there is much debate anymore about the phenomenon, it can be charted and quantified, etc. I think the debate is more focused on whether or not man is having an impact via carbon emissions, etc. This seems like a pris baiting thread or something.

It's not even a debate, the jury got back and the verdict is in.
inb4 this thread turns into meaningless drivel.

I'm inclined to agree, however, it's harder to pin it on human activity than it is to actually confirm that it's happening. There is a lot of skepticism because people hate to concede that they've been wrong for so long about something that is also heavily charged with political bullshit.

I wonder what the chart would look like if you could extend it a few more hundred years into the past. I'm not even being facetious. I'm intrigued at the notion of solar cycles and other factors and their influences on the overall global weather patterns. As much as I love the renewable energy industry and movement towards sustainability happening around the country, it pisses me off that it has to be polarized so strongly and turned into some retarded political debate that ends up misinforming loads of people who prefer one side over the other for various reasons. Can't tell you how many people I've had tell me that "clean energy" is bullshit, etc. It's actually kind of pathetic.

We know that CO2 is a major regulator of global climate. CO2 is transparent to light, but opaque to some infrared radiation. This means that sunlight makes it to the surface, but the heat generated by this light cannot escape as easily. CO2 levels are double what they have been over the past hundreds of thousands of years. There is no reasonable explanation for the dramatic heating we are now seeing except for the known properties of carbon dioxide.

You've never traded stocks before, have you? You need macro scale graphs and data to begin to make a case as to why this is a manmade trend. We're of the same opinion in regards to global warming and carbon emissions, but nothing you've posted so far is substantive evidence to make your case.
This is actually worse than that trump thread that was obviously set up to bait people into an orgy of disagreement and butthurt, and I think this thread is the same; it just comes off as disingenuous and vapid.

You can see the solar cycles in that chart. The peaks and valleys of the yearly data correspond to the eleven year solar cycle.
This chart shows sea level rise over the past 2000 years. Sea levels change is almost entirely a function of global temperatures (amount of water trapped as ice + thermal expansion). Levels were steady until a thousand years ago, which corresponds to the burning of vast amounts of European forests for charcoal production. It steadies out when most of the forests of Europe had been destroyed (there was barely a tree left in Great Britain by the 16th century) then the rapid increase due to the industrial resolution.

Actually the fact that co2 is the main warming drive is close to be destroyed by the latest research at CERN.
one of the main problem is it is well know that there is a big correlation between temperature and solar activity. Until now, nobody was able to find a process that would explain that since solar power input is not that high.
They use the particle accelerator (the tiny one i guess) right now to prove that in fact gamma radiation is the main driver in cloud formation (combined with some organics molecules), which would explain the correlation Solar activity <-> Temperature :
More solar activity = stronger sun magnetic field and more gamma ray deflection = less clouds
