I have an inbox.com account but they r discontinuing it on sep. 30th
Have a gmail but they have never made me use phone verification but it seems like they may still make me do it sometime and I know longer have a phone with that number so looking for another easy set up no phone verification option
Know about fastmail which is a good one
Anyone have a current list that they have actually used
A lot of the list that come up on google or bing are not too useful, old, not functional

Gmail is probably the best free e-mail provider if you don't care about privacy concerns. You can disassociate your phone number from your account by going to https://myaccount.google.com/phone. Click the little pencil icon to edit, enter your password, and select 'Remove Number'. The old number will not be used for account recovery in the future for regular Google, but it will still affect a few other services. You'll have to log in to those individually if you use them, and remove or update your number on each site.

The other suggestions in this thread are good as well, and I'd like to also mention Yahoo has a pretty nice webmail interface and 1TB of storage. But really, just stick with Gmail, the spam filtering is unsurpassed and you already have an account.
