Moving in with someone on Craigslist

I have no credit or recent pay stubs and I'm moving out of town soon. So the most reasonable option so far (and most affordable) appears to be to just move in with someone else that's looking for a roomate on Craigslist.
Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with this? Also, advice?
-------------------- How to get started in bulk: Presto 23-Quart Pressure Cooker BOD's Simple as FUCK Still Air Box PastyWhyte's Easy Agar Tek Munchauzen's Cultivation Video Series How EvilMushroom666 Prepares His Grains (I use jars with Synthetic Filter Discs) What is G2G? (Grain-to-Grain) Damion5050's Coir Tek (I use 5.5 - 6 quarts of water instead of 4. Also ignore step 13 and ignore the monotub completely. The only purpose of this tek is to show you how to make a simple substrate. I also add gypsum to it but not necessary) Spitball's Monotub Tek (A liner isn't necessary but is useful) Use 6500k lights throughout the whole process. When you wake up, turn the light on. When you go to sleep turn the light off. It's as simple as that.

I moved in with someone off craigslist about 5 years ago. We met and had a cup of coffee and he seemed like a decent, clean-cut individual. I moved in a week later and began noticing an usual amount of traffic, mainly whores and gays. But they would all congregate in his room and kept their activities secretive. Fast forward - a month goes by. We live our own lives, have our own friends and jobs, whatever. I'm sleeping soundly but awake abruptly to what I thought was a magnitude 10 earthquake. I ran for cover in the living room underneath our (my) coffee table and hollered for my roomie to hit the deck. As I ran passed his room I realized the door was wide open and he was having a massive meth orgy. People getting banged all over the place. There was like 20 dudes banging my room mate simultaneously
Needless to say I packed my shit and moved out that same week

Haha. I had a more normal experience with craigslist roomates. I moved into a tiny room at the top of a 3 story house full of grad student nerds. I paid 200$ a month for rent and it was rad.
The roomates all wanted to be my friend but they were so nerdY and didn't smoke weed. I couldnt handle their mild life style, plus im not very social with most people. Id smoke weed in secret all the time.

True. I knew someone who had a great experience the last 5 years from a craigslist roommate ad. It can be done. Vet those people and talk to at least 3-5 before deciding maybe?

These nerds were really nice people, nothing against that type of people, I just really couldn't handle sitting at a table with them playing monopoly and drinking soda, I just can't do that stuff it drives me insane.

Had a couple awesome places with cool peeps. Lived in a house of 8 people, all college students from overseas. Price was awesome there. Pretty mellow and would put up with anything.
A not cool one was with this dude who would have flashbacks of a warzone fairly often. Would babble about it all the time. He punched me in the face really badly for asking him to be quiet at 3AM. Not too resentful, know it was the booze, crack, PTSD. See him around and glad to hear he lives alone now. Oh this other psycho couple.. rented a room from them. I had a buddy come over and use my shower. It was a separate shower near my room. they didn't use it. Left a beer can and a roach in there and they freaked calling me a pig POS and cut the TV to my room. Told them it was my friend. Then a couple days later I was having my coworker over. We walk in the door And their stupid lil dog barks oddly. She comes running in and is like you kicked my dog you peice of shit and this is your POS friend who left that in my shower. My buddies like "straight up FUCK you physco bitch!!" Was rad. Moved out a few days later and they accused me of breaking a toilet to keep the damage deposit when I know it was broke before from her fat ass. It's a toss up, make sure you spend some time (lunch?) with the person before committing to anything. I should have sensed those people were weird.

Which town are you moving to? I feel that will make a big difference on your success rate.
Either way i would google/facebook/linkedin/instgram,etc, the shit out of them. And yeah lunch is a great idea too.
People do this all the time in NY. Most of the bad stories I've heard involve invasion of privacy or someone getting ripped off in one way or another.
Good luck!!!

Honestly, I'm not really sure yet. I'm just sort of looking around right now, but I'll have enough money to know that I'm stable. Probably Austin. Oregon is my favorite place in the world so maybe there, maybe northern california, maybe somewhere in Colorado. Haven't really decided yet.

Yeah having lunch gives you a better idea of how it might be. Once I moved in with this hippie dude and he always hooked it up with bud and acid a few times. Fun times..

Can't say that I have ever had to use craiglist, but in the future I might once I am able to move around with ease.
I am usually not home though, so that's always a plus, I spend the majority of my free time in the woods hunting mushrooms, gardening, or cycling, so guess that would be something good to tell future roommates.
I don't like to be indoors.
