Well ya. I ran a background check on myself and could see the charges. Can't lie about it. They're gonna find out. They're just misdemeanor charges thou

Ok, so there's your answer. Your previous charges that are on your record are probably holding you back, not the ones that were dropped, misdemeanor or not. This is just my speculation though

yeah. i called a recruiter and explained the situation. When i told him about the misdemeanor he called me a drug dealer and said i needed rehabilitation and then hung up the phone. nothing i said was even remotely aggressive and i dont think i deserved to get treated like that. Dude could've kept his composure and talk to me nice, but i guess im demonized now because of a fucking drug charge

he was just a recruiter that refereed you to other companies, and no. I woudnt work for someone arrogant like him. Im actually considering applying for like jobs in Colorado where they might be more lenient towards a weed charge

Same thing happened with my job. I actually went to court cause me and friend were stealing yugioh cards in toysrus and selling them to card shops for weed. This was 6 years ago though. I made atleast 500$ from it. Well long story short this time I was just tagging along and he had the backpack and he was grabbin them, i was looking out. Managers stopped us at the door which scared the shit outta us and there was already a cop waiting. So he grabbed both of us, friend was in the tank/jail that night and i got picked up by my parents cause i was a minor.
It was grand theft (around 400$ in retail cards). He was found guilty and I was found non guilty. I wasnt convicted/indicted or anything. I just received 6 months probation from the judge for hanging out with those people and let it be a lesson.
We never stopped chilling though. Me and him were super tight, we grew up together. I felt bad cause he hit me up at like 11am and was like cmon yo just real quick,,and I said sure why not. It fucked with us but we got over it. He was the one who arranged it and all.
Probation was checkup once a month and after 3 months PO saw my honor roll grades and figured it was stupid to see him cause I was with someone who was stealing yugioh cards so he let me go after 3 checkups. The shittiest part of it all was the fear of drug testing. I never actually got tested, which was very ballsy, but I missed out on blue dream and hashish .. soo much weed .. it was at the beginning of december so missed all the holiday smoke. Really sucked to be sitting in my cousins car with a packed roor being passed and all I can do is smell the smoke.
Well I just applied for a job 4 months ago (got hired and happily working) that did background checks. (I also worked at sams club previously , which is walmart, and they never found this on the background check) To be honest, I completely forgot about this incident. It was forever ago and nothing happened. We were young. Then after a week of no call backs from the interview I figured I was fucked. But I get a letter saying Please explain what this is.
All it said was that I was at court for grand theft and that I was not convicted on anything. I told them that I was 16 with a friend who was taking yugioh cards .. lol .. was just company policy to ask formally.
So to you OP, I dont think anything is permanetly erased. There has to be a database where everything that is entered is automatically entered into a secret database, for feds and the fbi and stuff vs state cops. You know the guys who can just look up any information. I was told that it was 100% expunged erased and cleaned. And it was. Just a thorough check from a company pulled it up. But I wouldnt worry. Most of it is formal, and if you actually meet the manager and just tell him it was in the past its not like hes gonna make a big deal outta it.
