BLuEFroGs Growbox Pics
    #2354053 - 02/19/04 10:50 AM (13 years, 2 months ago)

Hey all, heres a picture of what I have assembled so far. I will keep this updated as I go along.

Any suggestions would help... what I plan on doing to finish this, is cut two holes in the top of the inner box, then attach the computer fan to one of them, and the light into the other... ( I also might add another hole for a hygrometer and a thermometer... the outside will be filled with water, and there is a water heater that I found down in my basement. (the light by the way is much less powerful that I had origionally installed, and pictured.

What will the computer fan be for? Automatic aeration?
Simply letting a fan blowing 24/7 is way too much air exchange.

Why 24/7 would be too much? I've a similar setup with my
terrarium and I'm planning to let the air pump on 24 hrs a
day. If the rh won't decrease and the temp would stay at
the same level, why should not come in 24/24 some fresh air
+ h2o?

You need to have some means of humidification for the incoming air if you are going to let the fan on for that long.
If?you don?t, you should have very, very short fan operation times, like 1 minute ever 4 hours for instance.

anno, the fan is already running at about 1/3 potential because I ran it through an old phone charger, the humidity should be provided by the heated water that is keeping the inner box at the optimum tempurature...

Well, I told you what I know, try it out, and report your results.
For the fruiting cycle room temperature is best , no need to heat the terrarium(except it?s exceptionally cold in your house).

I wouldnt worry about the light too much... it doesnt really produce much heat at all because its so small...

This is going to be a messy set up. I had a similar thing going. Are you trying to hard to be stealth maybe? I know when I tried to hard it fucked up my grow, and left me pissed. I think you'll have a whole lot of problems with the incubator deal (regarding the water all on the outside and the heater and what not) you'll probably get a shit load of condensation on the lid of the larger tub, which will drip onto the smaller tub, it's just really messy. I'd abort this shit toot sweet. Rethink it maybe.

Take anno's adivce. IF you search for some if his growlogs you'll have your proof that he's one of the best cultivators around. He's a very respected member of the community.

Now, what id advise to do, is get some perlite for humidifcation, cause this is very important. My first bulk casing had small fruits because of this. (I used water + a bubbler)

As anno said, make your fan run for maybe a minute every four hours, or you will probably have too much air exchange and a dry casing surface/ cake surface.

But you can find out the hard way too.

Try putting a lid on the inner box and drill 2 holes on each side.
This will stop the rain effect on the casing's, the holes will let in the rh. Leave top lid craked a little to control rh.Other wise rh will be 100% always.
This set up is my present inccubating chamber. Thought of using it for fruiting in cold weather. All I need to add is light and air exchange. Listen to Anno on air exchange.

I have a great ammount of respect for anno, but at the moment my fan can only run for a minimum of 30 min on this timer... Ill try and find a different one tommorow, but at the moment this is all I have.
- I also have perlite and plan on using it around the inner box, and have that wetted... then put the fan on the top of the inner chamber, and drill 2 small holes on the other side with some polyfil stuck in em...

As for a colonization tank, I think Ill just fill the bottom of the inner chamber with water and stick the water heater in there, but just for colonization.

My friend George Dubyas Fruiting chamber uses a computer fan right now and he has it on a 30 min timer that runs 3 times a day. It stays at 95% humidity constantly, even right after the fan cuts off. He uses perlite though. I'd just make sure the fane blows above the cakes and not directly on them. This is definetly not a for sure thing though. G. dubya might just be lucky.

i am not sure as to what it would do to the fan, but mabe restrict the amount the fan can suck/blow for that to reduce the cfms of output?

and anno is my hero
