Short foray in Central Park (not the NY one) * 3
    #23540004 - 08/14/16 07:40 AM (7 years, 5 months ago)

Went out for a short walk today in Central Park near Wellington, NZ. We had a lot of rain recently.

I'll come back to add IDs as I find the missing ones, but in the meantime feel free to share IDeas

1. Unknown

2. The ever-photogenic Coprinellus disseminatus. I love photographing these.

3. Auricularia cornea - wood ear fungus growing way up on a dead tree

At the same time, a pair of bright red Eastern rosellas came by, but as usual they only allow me 3 seconds to get a photo before flying off. They never hang around for long.

4. Unknown

5. Don't know this one, but it looks like a jaunty cowboy hat

6. Scleroderma albidum I think

7. Weraroa erythrocephala - scarlet pouch

8. Unknown very small mushroom

9. Unknown

10. Another small unknown. This had a pinkish hue.

11. Under pine (and other trees)

12. Ileodictyon cibarium - white basket fungus. My first! I had no idea these were so big. I guess they are generally this size. It smelled like cabbage going bad. I think people need to consider nature of this sort when designing aliens for movies. It's very cool how the pouch spits out a cage that rolls away unattached. This is in the stinkhorn family for those who don't know.

13. And to end the journey, a dying Monarch still feebly beating his wings.

Hope you enjoyed :pipesmoke:
