Hang Drum / Hand Pan Madness!

Someone here has to have one or has played one!
A relatively new world instrument. I think it was created in 2000 or so
http://worldpercussion.net/instruments/panart-hang-and-handpans/
http://www.hangblog.org/information-about-purchasing-a-hang/
The YouTube videos of people playing these are unreal and this instrument just calls out to me. I want one so bad. I can imagine playing one around the fire out camping
So I went on the internet ready to buy one all willy nilly and realized the madness involved in getting your hands on one
To get the original, Panart hang, you have to go to Switzerland personally after a painfully long time on a waiting list, to choose one that speaks to you properly. And there is apparently criteria to it choosing you or some malarkey like that.
And all the other limited companies around the world that are mimicking this instrument have an average of year long waiting lists. Some have closed the waiting list.
It is a long and arduous task apparently to get your hands on one of these. And when you finally do, they are expensive as fuck. It's madness.
Who here has played one or owns one?

Cool instrument. I've looked at em before, but found them pretty expensive as well. Someone told me that there is a lot of work put into getting them tuned just so, more so than the average instrument. I think each one is specifically tuned to a key, kind of like a harmonica. So once you have one, you would want more naturally.
Obligatory Shpongle post -
Same guy is playing the left in this one with a different group -
Cool band/group usage elements to it, and it sounds pretty awesome on it's own as well.

I have a friend who is absolutely nuts about this instrument.
Spent over 10k on different Hand pans since a year or 2. He have like 7 different ones
He started making them about 8 months ago, invested around 6k for is little shop
He's not even rich or anything, he's actually pretty poor.
He started neglecting his friends familly wife career , he's Obsessed with tunning and making hand pan, spending 12hrs a day in his shop
Hand pan addiction is real. Maybe it's weed/acid addiction that makes him act this way tho it really does make awesome tripping music.
Edit: I've played a bit myself but my friend is like a god with this, playing 2 pan at the same time. Fuckin magic comming out of this metal ufos

Yeah I was gonna buy one till I saw the price
Its a great instrument although a steel pan has a "similar" sound at 1000000th a fraction of the price :/
If I could buy a good one for under £1000 then I would. If anybody knows from personal experience then pleasde let me know/link me!
Peace!
