ID Request--Northern England
    #23537464 - 08/13/16 10:07 AM (7 years, 5 months ago)

Hi everyone. I found these growing when on a walk in the Pennines and wondered what sort of mushroom they were.

Habitat:
I found them in a sheep pasture around-but not in-dung. A picture of the field they were in:

Gills and Spores:
Gills are grey and left jet black spores:

Stem:
Up to around 10cm in length; appear to be hollow; have a vertical ridge pattern.

Cap:
Up to around 3cm in diameter (most around 1cm). Most had a brown colour (pictures below) but about a quarter were wet and black-brown. The ones that have dried have become a grey-brown colour and the bottoms of the caps (margin?) have folded in towards the gills somewhat.

Bruising:
No apparent bruising.

Other information:
I can't really describe the smell, probably earth-like. The stem of a smaller one, once dried, was somewhat salty.

Panaeolus sp., P. acuminatus is likely.
