So my girlfriend wants to eat mushrooms with me but she has a pretty minor heart condition...I think they're called pvc's. From my understanding she just has some palpations some times. She does takes a medication for it.
However, she can't really drink caffeine so I'm worried shrooms might also affect her negatively. I was thinking IF I do give her any start off with a half gram...? I'm pretty reluctant about it and don't want to put anyone in harms way....so what do you good people of shroomery think?

If it were a large dose I'd be more concerned, as Im sure there would be a slight change in blood pressure, as well as a change in breathing pattern. However I take mushrooms from time to time and I have fairly frequent heart palps though I do not take medication for it. I would be more concerned with the name of the medicine and using the search engine aka Google to see if there is a bunch of interactions with other drugs. Find the class the drug is in and type the class name and ok to use with psychedelics and see if you find any info. Half a gram and going up slowly from there would be smart either way!

Thank you for the response! She said she takes metoprolol (beta blocker). It lowers her bp so she doesn't feel the pvc's as much. There are a few threads that mention people safely taking a beta blocker and have good trips but I think they just had high blood pressure not pvc's.

I have heart problems. I wouldn't trip simply because I would freak out and spend the whole trip thinking I was going to die.

She's not even worried about that, but I am. I would spend the whole trip worrying about her instead of enjoying it. It sucks because she sees me doing kratom and psychedelics all the time and she really wants to try them with me but I haven't let her due to her condition.
Where's Asante when you need him I bet he could clear all this up haha

No I would take at least 1 gram otherwise there's just no sense in even experimenting in the first place.
I would think aspirin could help but maybe not. It makes sense that she can't do caffeine but mushrooms are completely different. She should probably avoid LSD too since it increases heart rate but mushrooms do no such thing.
I really see no significant risk
It doesn't sound like a serious heart condition you said it was minor but I do know that mushrooms are not bad for your heart. Too much caffeine could kill you, mushrooms will not.

Even though no one has ever died? Where would this freaking out even come from anyways?

I don't think it really matters if it's legal or not and regardless even if they somehow are legal where he lives a doctor is most likely still gonna recommend against taking them since they have a biased view.

This old post might be relevant regarding mushrooms and blood pressure / heart conditions - Re: Is it safe for ME to use magic mushrooms?
The study mentioned starts on page 39 of this PDF - http://www.magic-mushrooms.net/on-the-legallity-and-public-health-risk-of-magic-mushrooms.pdf
Obviously you have to bear in mind that a study like this will be very carefully worded and cautious; in the conclusion they advise people with cardiovascular conditions not to take mushrooms, but it seems clear they are talking about a minor potential risk from a small effect on blood pressure.
On the other hand if someone really can't drink caffeine I'd be concerned about putting them through a full-on psychedelic trip. The blood pressure effects from the drug itself are fairly insignificant, but if you start worrying and getting anxious you can put yourself in a panic attack scenario with strong physical effects that feedback into your panic and give you a very unpleasant, heart-pounding feeling of imminent doom. If she's generally anxious or worry-prone I wouldn't be too keen.....
Anyway, see what you can make of that study (it's hard to understand the detail but the conclusion is in plain English) and you can both make up your own minds....
