Sounds like a malpractice suit

It was, but my mother was worth a hell of a lot more as a person, then the dollar amount that was settled on. It's hard to put a dollar amount on someone who to you, means the world - and to someone else outside the family, is worth almost nothing and just a case to settle with a formidable opponent lawyer. Divide the settlement amount between 4 people, subtract $90k for lawyer fees - and then your left with not even enough to buy a new corolla (per person).

Then you hear about these cop shootings, and families getting multiple, multiple millions of dollars, for a multiple conviction criminal, and then I wonder why my mom is worth only a fraction, even though she was the most positive, helpful to anyone type of person. If you think about it for too long it will fuck you up.

Lawyers are ruthless. Even the ones that are fighting for you, are really fighting for themselves. I mean, I get that its a career and business.. but it's not something I ever want to be involved in again.
