I've gotten high enough on heroin that I had to work to suppress the gag reflex as I lay melting into a sweaty puddle of pleasure. I know what an opiate high feels like. It's the same feeling.

Carolina reapers are pretty intense. Personally, I found if you eat them on an empty stomach and wait the 10 minutes it's pretty much over, but the excruciating part is the stomach stuff.
Ate several over the years, once ate 2. Yeah fuck drinking 6 million scoville shots lol.
I have 1 million scoville extract and a teaspoon of that rocked my world.
There is a bit of an endorphin rush, it isn't much though IME.

How strong of a feeling is it though, how long does it last, and is there a cutoff point to how hot a pepper needs to be or is it just the hotter the better? You're kind of getting me interested in trying it myself ever since you and CrystalG were talking about it in that other thread a few days back

I've heard this elsewhere and i still say it's bullshit. Hell the only people who would really believe that peppers give an opiate high are the people who have never done an opiate.
I've done both. It's not all that dissimilar from an opiate high. If you've ever sat and been tattoo'd for a couple of hours and got into the zone with it it's more like that. Or the high you feel after a fucking heavy workout. Comparable to a joint even (depending on what kinda weed you're smoking).
Mega spice = High.

It can be very strong if the food is hot enough. The more pain, the more pleasure. The high only lasts for a few minutes to an hour though, and you do have to deal with the pain. I'm guessing that's why opioid drugs have so much appeal over the various ways of activating the body's opioid system naturally: they activate it without pain and for a much longer duration. This is not a problem for me because I'm a masochist. I actually find the spice high more pleasurable than an opiate high thanks to the pain.
Endorphins are endogenous opioids though, so it only makes sense that they would give an opiate-like feeling. The name, endorphin, was coined as an abbreviation of "endogenous morphine". Opioid drugs work by binding to receptors that normally bind to endorphins. That's why more opioid receptors are created in chronic opiate use and why withdrawal is such hell-- opioid drugs interfere with the body's natural pain regulation systems by mimicking endorphins, and the body's way of compensating for this results in tolerance. When you go cold turkey off opioids, you've got more opioid receptors than can be filled by normal levels of your endorphins. The withdrawal syndrome ends once those surplus receptors have been recycled by their host cells.
If you've ever noticed that exercise seems to help addicts with withdrawing and staying clean, it's because exercise releases endorphins.

Makes sense. So does the "high" start only during the burn or linger afterwards too?

It lingers beyond the pain. At low doses of capsaicin it doesn't linger very noticeably, but the more heat, the more the endorphin high lingers beyond the pain. God I love spicy food.

Watch out for the morning after, you'll be shitting fire. And for heaven's sake don't take it straight, mix it in with chili or some other stew or sauce and eat it that way. A good level of spice in your food should give you a slow-building burn that reaches a point where you can't stand to keep eating after you've had a few mouthfuls. Once the pain has subsided, you start eating again. The buzz increases with every round, and if you do it right you'll be pretty blissed-out by the end of the meal. But if you just dump it all on your tongue right away, there won't be much pleasure to speak of. Respeck the sawzz, don't take it straight, mix it with your favorite savories.
An added benefit of this is that it will clear your sinuses out. Like they will be clearer than you ever thought possible. It feels great. I'm getting hella hungry now

Dude, what the fuck are you talkin about? Opiates give you pleasure without the pain??
Good god. I was 13 years in when I noticed it was about equal. But that's for acolytes who wish to learn the ways of the Tao. The work of the Obeh and the Wanga, of the Wand and the Sword.
I eat incredibly hot food constantly. A teaspoon of cayenne is like eating red sugar to me.
It's fun to think other stuff can teach you or make you feel like the poppy circean, and there is a proper place for peppers. South American shamans eat very very hot peppers to achieve a trance like state. I have done this, but imo, for awakened cosmic citizens aware of what every bell and whistle in the body and brain do, there's just no real comparison.

Lately alot of the dope I get makes my hands and feet sting like hell. I just chalk it up to being degraded into morphine since morphine always hurt alot to me, but it is a good hurt.

He changed his name because Asante (aka Wiccan_Seeker) no longer believes in the Wiccan religion and practices more of a Buddahist tradition (if i remember correctly).
