Yea when I go out with my cousin I expect us to sleep over however sometimes we tend to drink too much at a bar/club or people do not want guests. I don't get worried because I just fall asleep and wake up at the destination... (or in the hospital/morgue one day)

Some people seem to never get caught or crash in decades of driving intoxicated.
My good alchoholic friend is a known drunk driver but has never gotten a DUI and he's 60 now. I borrowed his truck the other day, mid trip I found a half full 5th of some rum in the passenger door.

I always ask if they're cool to drive and then try to get them to just crash in our guest room until sober. They almost never do. I don't try to wrestle their keys away or anything like that. They can make their own decisions.

I've been told by friends they know how much alcohol they can handle and still drive good enough. IDK I've never, and probably never will, drive intoxicated. I've sure I would drive EVEN slower prompting a cop to pull me over.
I've gotten a ride from a friend that high on weed and honestly couldn't tell from his driving and only midway found out. I tend to space out/black out with weed so I know I can't smoke and drive. But I don't have a tolerance like others.

I guess there's many factors here. I don't know how many of you have gone to bars with mates, but the vast majority end up over the legal limit.
Some circles don't have people who pay $50 at a bar and then want to spend a decent amount with an uber or cab. A 10 minute fare calling a cab if you're not in a city could be about $10 bucks. It comes down to money for some, and I don't know what bars allow cars to stay parked overnight (I'm aware that many probably would not care either way, but never knew anyone to ask for such a request).
Hell I've got a buddy with a DUI who still likes his weed cruises, drives with his pipe in his car, and whenever he goes to a bar drives himself and has about 6 beers. He doesn't get too wild to drive all erratic but obviously it happened before. Matter of time I suppose.

how can anyone let someone drive drunk ESPECIALLY a friend... ffs how can you be friends with someone and knowingly let them drive off with a high chance they might die or get seriously fucked up. Let alone that they could hurt someone else...
Seriously how is yes winning on the poll... provide some reasons for this awfulness.

You type like I do when I'm drunk. I just use backspace a lot more often...
It would matter to him if it was one of his friends or family members that got mowed down by the mate you had failed to stop from driving whilst intoxicated.

Will get in a car with an acid-pot-amphetamine head driving, but not with a molly-alcohol-coke head

Thats pretty sketch... and wierd... People on acid dont make good drivers. People on coke and amphetmines can be ok but it will make the wrong person crash due to over confidence.

My cousin drives drunk all the time (every weekend) in a 300 PS car. Hes a very agressive driver too and it amazes me that he never got into trouble in all these years. Stopping him is out of the question since hes ripped as hell. I surely would if i could

People think of getting caught. Its not about YOU then you drug and drive. Its about that kid on the skateboard you destroy when you are almost home. Its about that accident on the highway because of your diminished capacity to adequately respond to unexpected events. Its about the whiplash, the wheelchair, wrapping your car around a frigging tree in a U turn or bouncing off the rail.
Those cops are there for YOUR SAFETY
Dont drink and drive and don't drug and drive.

i dont think its fair to say you cant drive on all drugs. each drug is different. so why act like theyre all the same? i dont understand that logic
nobody has an issue when people drink a coffee while driving. but once its a "real drug" suddenly people care now? thats just being hypocritical
some drugs you can drive on. some you cant. thats how i see it. all drugs are different
people just see it that way bc booze is probably the most popular drug in the world and its defintely one of the drugs you cant drive on. not all drugs are like alcohol though
theres some drugs i can drive on fine nd i basicaly consider it sober driving. like weed or mdma or coke or caffeine or tobacco. then theres drugs i wont drive on like booze, ketamine, lsd, shrooms
to say you cant drive on any drug, to me, means you dont understand drugs at all. you cant treat each drug the same. theyre all different

I was a dumbass in highschool my senior year. I was driving drunk a lot of nights. Crashed 3 times total, amoung a lot of other stupid things. My problem was, i was depressed and always drinking alone so i didnt have anyone to stop me and i had no limits.
One night i drank 3/4 a liter bottle of jack and got in my car and ended up 20 miles away from home and didnt remember any of it at all, like i blacked out and was driving on auto pilot. Its truly a miracle nothing happened. I have no idea how i drove so far blacked out.
I snapped back into it while stopped in a random place, my brother said he saw me on a dirt road going extremely fast. I couldnt remember where i even came from...Then i drove back
I was a wreck basically. REALLY stupid.
I would try my hardest to stop someone else.
