Found in garden
    #23530010 - 08/11/16 12:49 AM (7 years, 5 months ago)

Good morning all

I just moved into a new house and found these growing in my back garden. I would really appreciate if you could identify them and let me know if they are of the fun variety.

Tried my best to answer the questions, but I don't know much about mushrooms other than what they taste like and make you feel.

Habitat: Growing in sandy soil (similar consistency to beach sand) near the roots of two different trees but witin 50cm (+-2 foot) of each other. There could be bark under the sand, but don't want to disturb them just yet. They are in a cool, shady part of my garden that gets not sunlight during the day.

Gills: They are a dark brown.

Stem: White / off white / light grey

Cap: Light brown to lighter colour towards the edges, roughly 0.5 to 1.5 inches across.

Spore print color: Not sure, pleasse let me know how I find out.

Bruising: Not sure, pleasse let me know how I find out.

Location: Western Cape, South Africa

A coprinellus species seems likely. Nothing exciting. :cookiemonster:
Bruising is a colour the mushroom can turn after picking/handling.
Psilocybin mushrooms often bruise blue!
To take a spore print, cut a cap free from stem and place cap on paper or foil. Leave for a few hours to overnight.

Bleak, was hoping it would be of the fun variety :frown: Looks like I have to get off my ass and go hunting. It has been a few years since my last experience and really looking forward to another one.
